Eligible postsecondary institutions are awarded an annual allocation to be awarded to their eligible students from GSFC each year.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the Georgia College Completion Grant, students must meet specific criteria, ensuring that the funds are directed towards those who are closest to completing their academic programs and have the greatest financial need. The Institution has the authority to set additional application and eligibility requirements.
Here's a breakdown of the key eligibility requirements:
- Academic Progress: Eligible students must have completed at least eighty (80) percent (or 70%, depending on the institution) of credit requirements for graduation from their enrolled certificate, diploma, or undergraduate major or program of study.
- Enrollment Status: Recipients must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree, diploma, or certificate program at Chattahoochee Technical College.
- Financial Need: GCCG recipients must meet the financial need, academic, and eligibility requirements specific to the grant program per Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFC). Students must have a valid, current year Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file.
- Residency and Citizenship: Be a Georgia resident and a citizen or eligible non-citizen.
- Selective Service and Drug-Free Compliance: Males must meet federal Selective Service registration requirements, per Georgia state law. Be in compliance with the Georgia Drug-Free Postsecondary Education Act of 1990, O.C.G.A.
- Outstanding Balance: Students must have an outstanding balance after all other funding has been applied.

- Award Amount: Eligible students may receive the GCCG award of up to $2,500, depending on the extent of their outstanding balance, in their lifetime.
- Direct Costs Coverage: This award will be placed on student’s accounts for the term awarded to assist them with tuition, fees, housing, meal plan, or other direct costs for the current term of enrollment. Direct Costs are educational costs that are institutional charges incurred by the student and must be paid directly to the postsecondary institution. Educational costs considered direct costs vary at institutions, and may include, but is not limited to, tuition and mandatory and/or course related fees, books and supplies, room and board, meal plans, etc. The charges or fines incurred due to actions by a student such as parking tickets, library fines, or late fees are not considered direct charges for the purpose of this grant.
- Restrictions: GCCG funds cannot be used for study abroad or student exchange programs. Students may NOT receive a refund for these funds and GCCG award amounts will be reduced or canceled if the award results in a refund of any GCCG funds to the student.
How to Apply
Students do not need to apply for this fund. GCSU Financial Aid Office (or the respective office at other institutions) will identify students who are eligible for these funds. The Office of Student Financial Aid will automatically award eligible students. Funding for this program is limited and will be awarded until all funds are exhausted. Eligible postsecondary institutions determine eligibility and awards for eligible students that have applied for the grant at their institution.
Maximizing Financial Aid Opportunities
While the Georgia College Completion Grant is a valuable resource, students should also explore other avenues to maximize their financial aid.
- Pell Grant: The amount you are awarded depends on your financial need, your cost of attendance (determined by the institution), your status as either a full-time or part-time student, and whether you attend a full academic year or less. To get the most benefit from the Pell Grant, you should remember: You must enroll in at least 12 hours to receive your maximum amount of funds for the Pell Grant. Your Pell Grant amount will reduce if you enroll in less than 12 credit hours. The Department of Education requires that the Financial Aid Office set a 'freeze date', after which your Pell Grant cannot be increased due to changes in your schedule. Initial awards for Pell Grants are based on full-time enrollment.
- Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG): A Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) is for undergraduates with exceptional financial need-that is, students with the lowest SAIs-and gives priority to students who receive Federal Pell Grants. An FSEOG does not have to be repaid. There is no guarantee every eligible student will be able to receive an FSEOG; students are awarded an FSEOG based on the availability of funds at the time financial aid awards are packaged at Georgia College.
Important Considerations
- Please note that at any time prior to/or during the semester if a student who has been awarded receives additional financial aid funds, the Completion Grant will have to be reduced or cancelled.
