Episcopal Ministry
On July 21, 2015, Pope Francis appointed Barron an auxiliary bishop in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles and titular Bishop of Macriana in Mauritania. He was consecrated as an auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles on September 8, 2015, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels by Archbishop José H. Gómez.
On June 2, 2022, Pope Francis appointed Barron as the ninth bishop of the Diocese of Winona-Rochester, in southern Minnesota. His installation there took place on July 29, 2022, at the Co-Cathedral of St. Teresa of Winona.
