Navigating the Resources of Sacred Heart University Library
Sacred Heart University Library serves as a central hub for study, research, and collaboration within the University community. It is viewed as a symbolic celebration of human wisdom contained within its books and artifacts. Aligned with the University’s commitment to the Catholic intellectual tradition, the library fosters a welcoming environment for all, encouraging the pursuit of truth and justice across the globe.
A Symbol of Unity: The Water Wall
A notable architectural feature, the water wall, is located outside of the Ryan Matura Library. Constructed from the same stone as the Chapel of the Holy Spirit, it establishes a visual dialogue between the two buildings, as they face each other across the Quad. The design of the chapel's exterior walls evokes the pages of the Word of God found in the Bible. The water wall embodies the message of unity among all people, nations, and religions, a principle that guided the founders of Sacred Heart University. This principle was influenced by the 1965 document, Nostra aetate, which promoted “the ties between different peoples” during the University's founding.
