The Kurt Budke Scholarship is in memory of Kurt Budke, who was born on June 3rd 1961 in Salina, Kansas. He was involved in all sports and played basketball at Barton County Community College and Washburn University. He began his coaching career while attaining his Master's Degree at Wichita State University, followed by a position at Cowley County Community College before accepting a coaching position at Louisiana Tech University, and eventually becoming the head coach at Oklahoma State University. He was very active in the community.
