Traditional Students

Traditional students are generally defined as those applying for the upcoming academic year who expect to attend an approved college or university in the academic year following their graduation from a public high school, a private or out-of-state high school, or homeschool.

To qualify as a traditional student, applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

Achieve an ACT composite score or superscore of 19 or higher.
Obtain an Accuplacer score of 246 or higher.
Earn a Classic Learning Test score of 58 or higher.
Possess a High School GPA of 3.00.
Earn a Diploma of Merit.

Traditional students must begin attendance with at least 12 credit hours in their first Fall semester following high school graduation and at least 15 credit hours each semester thereafter to receive their funds that semester. This translates to earning at least 27 credit hours in their first academic year and at least 30 credit hours each academic year thereafter, while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 2.5.

It's worth noting that freshmen completing their first academic year who did not initially apply for or qualify for the Academic Challenge Scholarship may still be considered Traditional students. This applies if they were enrolled as full-time, first-time students and earned 27 hours with a 2.5 GPA in their first academic year. If they do not have 27 hours at the end of Spring, they can still apply as a Non-Traditional student.

Non-Traditional Students

Non-Traditional Students are defined as students currently in college who did not receive the Academic Challenge Scholarship, as well as adults who have completed some college, but do not have a degree.

Non-traditional students have different qualification criteria. Those with some college credit may be eligible with a cumulative college GPA of at least 2.5. Students with no prior college credit can qualify with an ACT composite score or superscore of at least 19 (or an equivalent score on an equivalent test).

Non-traditional students may begin attendance with fewer semester credit hours than the required number for Traditional students and still receive a prorated scholarship award for that semester.

Arkansas Community Foundation Scholarships

The Arkansas Community Foundation (ARCF) manages numerous scholarships established by donors to support education for students who meet various criteria. Helping Arkansas students find support to continue their education is one of the most important ways we can improve Arkansas communities. Most Community Foundation scholarships are for Arkansas students pursuing higher education at two/four-year colleges or universities, vocational schools or technical training programs.

The scholarship, worth up to $25,000 per year, is open to undocumented high school seniors/graduates residing in states where they effectively have no access to college due to high out-of-state tuition costs or because their state's public universities will not admit them (see "Eligibiltiy Information" for full list of qualifying states). Applicants must also be attending one of TheDream.Us's partner colleges (Christian Brothers University, Delaware State University, Dominican University, Eastern Connecticut State University, or Trinity Washington University (Women’s College)) to qualify. ASHRAE Region VIII Scholarship

The ASHRAE Region VIII Scholarship is a one-year scholarship available annually to a full-time post-secondary student attending a school in ASHRAE Region VIII (Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, and Mexico) and pursuing a degree in a course of study that has traditionally been a preparatory curriculum for the HVAC&R profession.
