Harvard Ukrainian Summer Institute (HUSI) Scholarships

Each year, the Ukrainian Research Institute at Harvard University (HURI) awards numerous tuition scholarships to support participation in the Harvard Ukrainian Summer Institute (HUSI) and enrollment in HUSI courses through the Harvard Summer School (HSS). In addition, a limited number of full scholarships are awarded each year, which include tuition plus room and board in on-campus housing. Students must register for 8-credits of HUSI coursework in order to be eligible for a full scholarship. Scholarships are awarded based on demonstration of academic merit, academic or professional contribution to Ukrainian studies, and financial need.

Scholarship funds are paid directly to the Harvard Summer School, not to the student.

HUSI Scholarship Application Checklist:

Part A: 2025 HUSI Enrollment Form, required for all prospective HUSI students, regardless of funding source.
Part B: CARAT Application Form, including the following four PDF document uploads:
- Application Essay (750 words or less): A description of academic research or area of specialization (academic or professional), focusing on work related to Ukraine. An explanation of how the planned coursework would contribute to academic, professional, and personal goals. A brief statement of the need for financial assistance.
- CV/Resume (3 pages or less): Academic and professional background, including previous degrees and current degree programs, academic field, and dates.
- Transcript(s): An unofficial digital copy issued to students is sufficient. Please submit the transcript for your most recent degree or degree program(s). The committee will review no more than two transcripts total.
- 1 Letter of Recommendation from a university instructor (or employer if you have not recently attended school) and uploaded directly to CARAT by your recommender.

Lincoln University Scholarships

Lincoln University is a private, non-profit, non-sectarian university located in Oakland, California, in the San Francisco Bay Area. LU was founded in 1919 and has always maintained an international and intercultural orientation. Today, the university enrolls about 400 graduate and undergraduate students from over 60 countries around the globe. The scholarships will allow students to study, live, and play sports in a friendly community. For one year, we will have them in our nurturing environment.

Ukrainian Federal Credit Union (UFCU) Scholarship Program

The Ukrainian Federal Credit Union (“UFCU”) is offering its scholarship program in collaboration with the New York Credit Union Association (“NYCUA”). UFCU scholarship award (current high school seniors OR current college freshmen, sophomores, or juniors). NYCUA scholarship applicants who wish to also be considered for the UFCU scholarship award will need to meet additional eligibility requirements and complete an online survey as detailed below on this web page. A credit union verification code is required as part of the application.

The UFCU scholarship program (for eligible high school seniors going to college next year or current college freshmen, sophomores, or juniors) in recent years has paid out anywhere from $500 to $1000 per winner. The Ukrainian Federal Credit Union (UFCU) awards scholarships for tuition, room, board and books.

Scholars at Risk (SAR)

Scholars at Risk (SAR) protects scholars suffering grave threats to their lives, liberty and well-being by arranging temporary research and teaching positions at institutions in our network as well as by providing advisory and referral services: SAR Ukraine Fellowships. SAR announces new fellowship support for SAR network member institutions in North America looking to host threatened and displaced scholars from Ukraine. announced the creation of the Shevchenko Emergency Fund, which will be used to support scholars, writers, and artists who have been affected by Russia’s war against Ukraine.

University of the People

University of the People is opening all its Online Courses for free to Ukrainian Students whose universities have closed due to the Russian invasion to enable them to continue their studies uninterrupted online.

National Academy of Sciences (NAS) Safe Passage Fund

National Academy of Sciences (NAS) has launched the Safe Passage Fund to support the Polish Academy of Sciences as it helps fleeing Ukrainian researchers and their families resettle in Poland. As part of this effort, the NAS will evaluate proposals and identify candidates for placement in suitable institutions, and will use the funds raised to provide grants to help support the scientists and their families. foundations have pledged their support to this effort, including the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, the Alfred P.
