This article provides a detailed look into some of the key initiatives and services provided by SDCOE, highlighting their impact and relevance.

Addressing Teen Dating Violence

Teen dating violence (TDV) is a serious issue that affects many young people. It is defined as a pattern of violent or manipulative behaviors used by a partner (or ex-partner) to gain power and maintain control in a relationship. Recognizing the significance of this issue, communities nationwide, including San Diego County, actively participate in spreading awareness and prevention education to address relationship violence. This collective effort aims to empower teens to recognize the signs of TDV, seek help, and build healthy relationships.

Celebrating Diversity: Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage

SDCOE recognizes and celebrates the rich tapestry of cultures within San Diego County. Throughout the year, various celebrations and observances are held to honor the history, culture, and contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. These celebrations provide opportunities for learning, understanding, and appreciation of the diverse communities that make up the region. Lunar New Year, also known as Chinese New Year or Spring Festival, is one such celebration that brings communities together.

Promoting Wellness and Stress Management

In today's fast-paced and demanding world, prioritizing wellness and stress management is crucial. SDCOE recognizes the importance of supporting the mental and emotional well-being of its staff, students, and the community. With so much going on in the world right now, it’s critical to find time to manage stress, practice mindfulness, keep active, and find ways to relax and recharge.
