Crucially, SDCCE students do not need to be residents to receive college credit through the CTE Transitions Credit by Exam process. As of Fall 2022, a streamlined process for recording these assessment grades has been implemented. Faculty will no longer have to enter final assessment grades into the Instructor Certification Form. Instead, all final assessment grades will be entered in Campus Solutions through a new final assessment grade roster. This new roster will appear on the last day of the course, simplifying the administrative process and ensuring accurate record-keeping.

To facilitate student success in this credit transition process, SDCCE strongly encourages students to complete a college application at the beginning of the term. This proactive step ensures that students are prepared to receive college credit once they have successfully completed their SDCCE courses.

The operational framework supporting the CTE Transitions Credit by Exam process is robust and well-defined. Access to all active agreements and approved final assessments is available through a dedicated Teams Folder, ensuring that relevant stakeholders have ready access to necessary documentation. Deans and VPIs (Vice Presidents of Instruction) have access to this folder, enabling them to oversee and manage these crucial pathways.

Signed active agreements are comprehensive documents that clearly outline roles and responsibilities, establish goals, specify unique requirements, and detail pathway information. These agreements are designed to be dynamic and responsive to evolving educational needs, typically being two-year renewable agreements, unless otherwise stated. To ensure transparency and accountability, Instructional Services offices at both SDCCE and the respective College maintain signed copies of these agreements, along with copies of the agreed-upon final assessments. The District also maintains comprehensive copies of all these materials, providing a centralized and secure repository of essential documentation. This meticulous management of agreements underscores SDCCE's commitment to providing clear, reliable, and effective pathways for its students to achieve their academic and career ambitions.
