Skyward Student Access: A Comprehensive Guide
Skyward is a centralized application utilized by LISD for storing and managing comprehensive student information. This includes personal details, academic records, and attendance. It's crucial to understand the different access areas tailored for specific users, such as Family Access for guardians and Student Access for students. This guide provides a detailed overview of navigating Skyward, ensuring you can effectively access and manage student data.
Accessing Skyward: Initial Login
The first step is setting up your Skyward account. This involves providing basic information and creating a unique password. You will be directed to a screen similar to the one below. It is essential to ensure you are logging into the correct area. Once your account is set up, you can log in using your username and password.
Navigating Skyward Family Access
This page serves as your gateway to access vital student information and school data in Skyward Family Access. After logging into Skyward Family Access, you can access various features:
Gradebook
To view grades, select the Gradebook link from the menu. To view teacher comments for an assignment, click the blue assignment title followed by the blue comment bubble (next to the grade) in the Assignment Details pop-up.
Portfolio
To access student portfolios, click the Portfolio link. A PDF file will be generated when you select a report.

Student Info
To request changes to student information, click the Student Info link followed by Request Changes for… in the upper right-hand corner.
Online Forms
Throughout the year, Online Forms are used to collect and update information. Parents need to read the content of each form carefully, verify the chosen options and/or fill out the fields each year, as changes are made to content from year to year. Back to School Forms are opened at the start of each new school year. Parents and students are occasionally required to fill out individual forms in Skyward Family Access. These forms are separate from the yearly Back to School Forms Packet.
New Student Enrollment
When enrolling a new student, navigate to the Enrollment section in your menu options to input necessary details and documentation online. After logging into Skyward Family Access, click on New Student Online Enrollment. Your address and other family information pulls from the LISD existing records.
Key Features and Functionality
Once you have completed the online forms, explore the tabs and menus to access grades, attendance records, assignments, and communication tools with teachers. Navigate through your account effortlessly by accessing key sections such as attendance, grades, health info, and updating account settings.
Troubleshooting Access Issues
Forgot your password? If you have tried both of the recovery methods above and cannot log in to your Skyward Family Access account, you will need to visit your campus office to regain your account access. Enter a support ticket.
