GPA: Striving for Academic Excellence

While Spelman College does not specify a strict minimum GPA requirement, the GPA is a very important academic factor. The average GPA of admitted students is generally around 3.76 on a 4.0 scale. The GPA ranges for admitted students are as follows:

To try to aim for the school's ACT requirement of 29 and above, you should try to take the ACT as many times as you can. By and large, most colleges do not superscore the ACT.

Spelman College considers the SAT Essay/ACT Writing section optional and may not include it as part of their admissions consideration.

Spelman College's summer programs are back by popular demand and afford high school students an opportunity to spend several weeks on campus engaged in exciting, rigorous academic offerings. As a program participant, you will have an immersive residential experience, gain a sense of independence, and create lasting relationships with peers from across the United States.

Prospective Honors Program applicants must apply in the Early Decision or Early Action application rounds. On May 22nd, 2023, the honors faculty committee voted unanimously to permanently suspend the rising sophomore application. This decision effectively ends additional opportunities for Spelman students, including transfer students, to apply for admission to our program.
