Discover Stanford: A Guide to Campus Visits and Programs

Stanford University welcomes prospective undergraduate students and their families to explore its campus through a variety of tours and programs. The Office of Undergraduate Admission provides both virtual and in-person opportunities to learn more about the university. With the exception of most federal holidays and some breaks between quarters, Stanford aims to provide information about visiting campus throughout the year.

On-Campus Visit Programs

Campus Tours

Guided tours are offered multiple times most weekdays and on selected Saturdays. These tours typically last about 90 minutes and cover nearly all of the central areas of campus over the course of its flat and accessible 2-mile path. Your student guide will focus particularly on sharing with you the amazing opportunities and experiences that come with being an undergraduate student at Stanford. If a Prospective Undergraduate Student Tour is not available in the registration form, it means that registration is full or that we are not offering tours.

Specialty Tours

Stanford offers three specialty tours that focus on different academic fields: the Humanities & Arts Tour, the Social Sciences Tour (i.e. anthropology, communication, economics, international relations, political science, psychology, public policy, and sociology), and the Engineering & Computer Science Tour. These 45-minute tours, offered Mondays and Fridays, will explore the areas of campus specific to each of these academic pursuits and are intended to complement the Prospective Undergraduate Student Tour.

Information Sessions

Learn all about Stanford University during a 2.5-hour combined information session and campus tour. An Admission Officer will lead a 45-minute information session covering undergraduate admission and financial aid. The representative will discuss characteristics that make Stanford distinctive, as well as Stanford’s admission process and commitment to financial aid.

Student and Parent Forums

The Student Forum provides a casual, comfortable opportunity for prospective students (and only students) to chat with 3-5 current undergraduate students to learn more about what it's really like to be a student on the Stanford campus. The student hosts will not talk about admission or financial aid, but instead about student life - academics, athletics, activities, residences, dining, weekends, the social scene, etc.

The Parent & Supporters Forum, designed for parents, family members, and other supporters of prospective undergraduate students, is an informal, 45-minute question-and-answer session with a couple current Stanford undergraduates who represent a variety of backgrounds and interests and a professional staff member. Bring your lunch, and don't worry if you're running late - this is a very relaxed program!

Group Tours

Group Tours for Winter 2026 are offered to qualifying groups/organizations (usually from 10 to 50 participants) on weekdays from January 20 through March 13 (with exceptions on certain dates). Scheduling for Spring Quarter will begin on Monday, February 9 for tours provided from April 13 through May 29. Offerings for Group Tours in summer will resume in July. Please note that we will not grant requests for group visits through commercial or third-party tour operators. All requests and communications must come from and be processed through a qualifying organization.

Virtual Visit Programs

Live virtual offerings are available on a semi-weekly basis during most times of the year.
