Unlocking Affordable Transit: A Guide to MTA Student Discounts
Navigating transportation costs as a student can be challenging. The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) offers several programs designed to ease this burden, connecting students to educational institutions, jobs, and opportunities around the region. This article provides a comprehensive overview of the MTA's student discount programs, eligibility requirements, and how to take advantage of these cost-saving initiatives.
All Access Student Transit Pass: Your Key to Unlimited Rides
The MTA’s All Access Student Passes are exclusively available for purchase through the CharmPass mobile app. This pass provides a convenient and cost-effective way for eligible students to access MTA services.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the All Access Student Transit Pass, students must meet specific criteria:
- Enrollment: A student must be enrolled in the current school semester.
- Participating School: The pass is available exclusively through the MTA’s CharmPass mobile app for students whose schools are enrolled in the program. Students should check with their school administration to determine if their school participates. The All Access College Transit Pass is not available to individual students if their school has not enrolled. Ask your school to contact the MTA Office of Fare Collections at 410-454-7974 for information and how-to sign-up.
- Individual Purchase: A student may only purchase a pass for themselves. All Access Student Transit Passes are not available for purchase by faculty, school staff, or administration through our mobile app.
- Documentation: A student should be prepared to show any required documentation requested by their school to validate eligibility. Enrollment eligibility is determined by the school/university and forwarded to MTA.
How to Purchase
Passes are only available thru the CharmPass mobile app. Passes are not sold at the MTA Transit Store or MTA pass sales locations. The All Access Student Pass is a 31-day pass, not a standard monthly pass.
