Classbook Program: A Collaborative Publishing Experience

The Classbook program is designed for students in grades K-6 and provides a real-world experience in writing, collaboration, and creative expression. It allows a classroom of students to work together to create a book, enhancing their reading and writing skills in a fun and engaging way. Publishing a book with your class is cross-curricular and can be as easy as putting an existing lesson onto our paper!

  • Free Publishing Kit: Studentreasures provides a FREE publishing kit to teachers, making it accessible for classrooms to participate.
  • Collaborative Project: A minimum of 12 students per class is required to participate in creating your FREE, classbook due to its collaborative nature. Each student contributes a page of writing and a page of illustration.
  • Curriculum Integration: Publishing a book with your class is cross-curricular and can be as easy as putting an existing lesson onto our paper. The project can be integrated into various subjects, including English, social studies, math, science, and language arts.
  • Step-by-Step Guidance: The publishing kit includes a step-by-step teacher guide to help teachers guide their students through the writing process.
  • Online Publishing Software: Scripsi, Studentreasures' online publishing software, allows classes to design their books online, providing a safe and secure environment for students to create their stories.
  • Free Teacher Copy: For each teacher who publishes a collaborative book with their class, one FREE publishing kit and one copy of the hardcover book FREE to the teacher is offered.

  3. Publish Book: Submit your completed kit(s) and we’ll send your deluxe, hardcover book, FREE to the teacher along with extra copies ordered by parents.

Scripsi, Studentreasures' online publishing software, offers a digital platform for creating classbooks.

Features of Scripsi

  • Online program created just for schools to help teachers guide their students through the writing process.
  • Exclusive design allows teachers to create and send revision notes with feedback on each student’s pages.
  • Safe and secure environment that is login and password protected.
  • Log in simultaneously as a class and use Scripsi from any computer at home or school.
  • Students have the option to either upload their writing and illustrations or use Scripsi’s integrated drawing and typing tools to create the perfect story.

Individual Book Program: Unleashing the Solo Author

For students in grades 4-12 who want to tell their own story, Studentreasures offers an individual book program. This program is versatile and works great with groups or individuals. Each participant receives one kit to publish their own book and receives one hardcover copy. Parents have the option to purchase additional copies, but are under no obligation.

The Publishing Process: From Classroom to Published Book

The publishing process with Studentreasures is designed to be simple and straightforward.

  1. Choose Your Publishing Date and Order Your Free Publishing Kit: A publishing date is the date you choose that your kits are due back to us for publishing. This ensures your published books are back to your class when you need them. You select the kit layout that works for your class.
  2. Fill the Pages with Your Students’ Writing and Illustrations: Let your students’ imaginations run wild as they fill the kit pages with their story. Each student contributes their own writing and illustration to create a collaborative classbook.
  3. Submit Your Kit for Publishing: A week before your publishing date, pack up your completed materials and parent order forms (including those that choose not to pre-order) in the box your kit arrived in. Then, send it back to us using the prepaid label included in your kit.
  4. Celebrate Your Proud, Published Authors! When your books arrive, get ready to party! Your students’ published books will be treasured keepsakes for years to come, so get your camera ready and capture the smiles of your published authors.
