Applying for Scholarships

Applications for scholarships are now available for the 2026-2027 academic year. By filling out an application, you will be considered for all Foundation scholarships listed unless otherwise noted. You will need your Morrisville Student ID (M#) to apply. New and Readmission Applicants will access the New Student Scholarship Application through your Applicant Portal. All incoming first-year, transfer and returning applicants are automatically considered for Mustang Scholarships during the application review process. No separate application is required.

Completion of the application will determine your eligibility for all SUNY Morrisville Foundation Scholarships. The deadline to complete the application is extended to April 1. Applications are reviewed on a rolling-basis and notification of most awards will occur by April 1. All submissions are reviewed by the SUNY Morrisville Scholarship Committee.

Students are evaluated for academic strength, extracurricular involvement, and financial need, therefore, submitting the FAFSA as early as possible and completing the scholarship application is highly encouraged to ensure the best possible award package. Mustang Scholarships

All incoming first-year, transfer, and returning applicants are automatically considered for Mustang Scholarships during the application review process. No separate application is required. These awards recognize academic achievement:

  • Trustees Award: This is the highest award, with recipients receiving $4,000 per year for a maximum of four years.
  • Presidents Award: Award recipients receive $3,000 a year for a maximum of four years.
  • Deans Award: Award recipients receive $2,000 a year for a maximum of four years.

Foundation Scholarships

Applying for Foundation Scholarships

To be considered for Foundation scholarships, students must complete the application form at Morrisville.edu/foundationform. This single application allows students to be considered for all Foundation scholarships unless a supplemental application is specifically required.

Scholarship applications are due each year on March 1, and awards are announced by April 1. If awarded a scholarship from SUNY Morrisville, it will automatically be applied to the student’s account.

Federal Student Aid Programs

To receive federal loans or grant money, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form and renew it every year. The FAFSA determines eligibility for various federal aid programs:

  • Federal Pell Grant: A federal grant determined by your financial profile. Completion of a FAFSA is the first step in determining your eligibility. All students are encouraged to complete the FAFSA.
  • Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG): For students of exceptional financial need who would be unable to continue their education without the grant.
  • Federal Work-Study Program (CWS): Provides funds to employ students who have financial need and who must earn a part of their educational expenses.
  • Federal Direct Loans:

Federal Direct PLUS Loan

A loan for parents of undergraduate students. A credit check is required. Repayment generally begins within 60 days of full disbursement. Parent PLUS loans permits parents to borrow the full cost of education less any financial aid at a relatively low interest rate. PLUS loans are subject to a credit check. Repayment will begin 60 days after the full loan is disbursed. A origination fee will be deducted from the amount of the loan. You may have the option to defer payments while the student is enrolled at least half-time in an undergraduate program. Typically, you have 10 years to pay off your loan, with no penalty for early pay-offs.

Federal Nursing Student Loan Program (NSLP)

The Federal NSLP is for students who are enrolled at least half-time in an approved program leading to the associate degree in nursing. The college determines who is eligible for the loan, and the amount that will be offered. A student may borrow up to $3,000 per year.Repayment begins nine months after the borrower graduates, leaves the program, or leaves school for other reasons.
