Sweet Briar College: A Meaningful and Dynamic Work Environment

Sweet Briar College is not just a place for students to thrive; it's also a vibrant and fulfilling place to work. The same qualities that make Sweet Briar special for students - a strong sense of community, opportunities for collaboration, and a commitment to individual growth - extend to its faculty and staff.

A Close-Knit Community

Sweet Briar prides itself on being more than just a workplace; it's a family. A significant portion of the faculty and staff, thirty percent, reside on campus, while others live close by, fostering a tight-knit environment. This proximity encourages social interaction and camaraderie outside of work. Whether it's a potluck at the boathouse, an honors awards ceremony, a lecture, or a party at the president’s house, there are ample opportunities to connect with colleagues, celebrate achievements, and learn from each other.

Valuing Individuals and Diversity

Sweet Briar College recognizes the unique talents, commitment, and diverse identities of each individual. The college fosters a close-knit community where dedication to students, excellence, and a sense of belonging are recognized and cultivated in every area. The college views its talent as its greatest asset and is intentional in shattering silos to optimize the breadth and depth of each individual’s experience and skill, transcending the typical role description.

One Sweet Briar: A Shared Commitment

The environment at Sweet Briar is unique, with a strong emphasis on mutual support, challenge, and recognition. Faculty and staff share a deep commitment to this special place and contribute their time, passion, and resources in various ways toward a common purpose. This collective spirit is known as "One Sweet Briar."
