Post University, a private for-profit institution in Waterbury, Connecticut, boasts a rich history and a commitment to providing personalized education. The institution's journey began as Mattoon Short and School in 1890, offering training in essential business skills like typing, bookkeeping, and business writing. In 1897, it was renamed Waterbury Business College, followed by another name change to Post College in 1932. The school moved to its current location on Country Club Road in Waterbury, Connecticut, in 1965. Harold B. Leever was named chair of the board of trustees. Post College transitioned into a four-year institution in 1976, introducing accelerated degree programs tailored for Vietnam veterans seeking to further their education. In 1990, the university affiliated with Teikyo University and was known as Teikyo Post University. The institution officially became Post University in 2004, following a recommendation from the board of trustees. Since then, the school has expanded its liberal arts programs and graduate-level courses.

In 2007, Post offered Connecticut's first fully online Master of Business Administration degree program. In 2015, John L. Hopkins became the president and CEO. In 2021, Post University acquired American Sentinel University, a for-profit college with 1400 undergraduate students and 1300 graduate students. In December 2024, Post University was acquired by Universidad Andrés Bello, a private university based in Santiago, Chile. Despite the change in ownership, Post University retained its name, leadership, and campus operations.

Campus Life and Facilities

The university's campus is situated on 58 acres (28 hectares) in Waterbury, Connecticut. The campus is home to the Post Tree, a Camperdown elm (Ulmus Camperdownii) that once served as the backdrop for the university's logo. The tree measures 13 feet in height with an average spread of 28 feet.

Residence Halls

There are six student residence halls on campus. West Hall houses approximately 100 first-year students and was renovated in 2011. Middle Hall houses approximately 44 first-year students. Paparazzo Hall houses 44 first-year students and was renovated in 2013. South Hall houses approximately 60 upperclassmen students and was renovated in 2012. East Hall houses approximately 60 upperclassmen students. Torrance Hall houses main campus admissions and the president's office. Hess Hall features classrooms, the registrar, the financial aid office, human resources, and IT. North hall houses Career Services, the Communications Office, Associate Faculty lounge, Commuter Student Lounge, and the Photography Lab. MacDermid Hall has chemistry and biology labs and classrooms, and the university's largest lecture hall. The art department facilities are also found here, including two studio spaces and a ceramics kiln.

Other Facilities

LaMoy Field is a multipurpose facility to support Post's athletic programs and football team. The field was updated to a turf field in 2011. Drubner Athletic Center ("Drub") supports the basketball, volleyball, and tennis teams.

The Traurig Library and Learning Center houses a collection of 13,000 books, 1,265 media items, and 48 online resources. The library offers services such as photocopying, internet access, computer searches, interlibrary loan services, research guides, and access to cultural programs and art exhibitions.

Athletics

Post University, known athletically as the Eagles, is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II, primarily competing in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). Men's sports include baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, football, tennis, and track and field; while women's sports include basketball, bowling, cross country, golf, hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis, track and field, and volleyball. Non-varsity programs include cheerleading, and equestrian sports.

The university's athletic facilities include the Drubner Center, Edgewood Bath & Tennis, Hop Brook State Park, LaMoy Field, Municipal Stadium, Country Club of Waterbury, and the Sports Center of Connecticut.

Student Support Services

Post University prioritizes student health and well-being, providing access to a health center and a counseling center. The health center offers services such as sick visits, COVID-19 testing, strep testing, flu testing, mono testing, first aid, flu vaccines, vitals checks, glucose testing, urinalysis, pregnancy testing, and birth control education. Admission Requirements

To enroll at the main campus, applicants must provide an attestation confirming high school graduation or equivalent. If an applicant has less than a 2.00 high school cumulative grade point average, a personal statement must be submitted for review by the provost. Post University has a test-blind admissions policy.

International Students

International students applying to Post University are eligible for both F1 and J1 Visas, depending on the course they have applied for. They can apply for a Visa once their admission is confirmed by the university. Once the university accepts their admission they can then pay the SEVIS Fee. After receiving receipt of the fee they can apply for a Visa appointment in their home country.
