Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology began as a school for orphans, teaching them valuable trades. Thaddeus Stevens had one major requirement: Equity for those in attendance. Everyone would eat from the same table and experience the same atmosphere and support regardless of background or status. With a name like Thaddeus Stevens, the College has been living up to an impactful legacy for more than a century.
Academic Programs and Fields of Study
Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology offers 23 distinct undergraduate degrees, concentrated into 19 majors within 9 broad fields of study. The college provides a variety of academic options, including associate degrees, certificate programs, and short-term training opportunities. Specifically, the college offers 24 associate degrees, 4 certificate programs, and several six-months or less short-term training options, all focused on trades, technology, or business. These programs are designed to provide students with hands-on learning and job-ready skills.
Each of the two-year associate degrees at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology includes general education classes and hands-on labs daily for practical, job-ready skills. In addition to technical training, associate degree programs at Thaddeus Stevens College include a theoretical and general education class load as well. Students must successfully complete at least one general education class in each of the following four areas: english, math, science, and humanities.
The College also offers four certificate programs, which can be completed within one school year. Not only does Thaddeus Stevens College offer degrees and certificates, we also provide short-term training for those unemployed, under-employed, or looking to expand their skillset in a way that can still balance other life commitments.

One of the essential ways we help students gain hands-on experience in our trades programs is through the process of building a home from the ground up each year. Our students are immersed in hands-on learning taught by industry experts in engaging, professional environments. They collaborate with other students, faculty, and industry mentors in our unique block schedule, which offers valuable, real-world skills.
Tuition, Financial Aid, and Affordability
Thaddeus Stevens College is committed to making education accessible and affordable. The tuition and fees for 2020-2021 were $8,400. Tuition and cost information for meals and housing can be found on our tuition page. More than 90 percent of students receive financial aid. More than 40 percent of students receive our exclusive Stevens Grant, available to those meeting federal Pell guidelines that can help cover tuition, meals, and housing. Program supplies are also provided to those receiving the Stevens Grant. At Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, 91 percent of undergraduates receive grant or scholarship aid and the average scholarship or grant award is $6,788. Campus Life and Student Support
Thaddeus Stevens College offers residence halls for about half of our students, both single rooms and double rooms. We have robust campus activities, both student-led and College-led, along with three different locations for meals throughout the day. Our mission is to help create equitable access to education, and one of the ways we embody that is by making sure our students have every support they need, from mental health to financial aid, including campus safety, accessibility, career services, and even a clothing closet for professional clothing. The College offers academic support through free tutoring, academic coaching, and academic seminars. The College maintains a calendar with important dates for academic semesters, including orientation, class start dates, drop or add periods, last day of classes, and grade due dates. Students are responsible for fulfilling their graduation requirements, with support from faculty advisors. Students register themselves for their required courses, both general education and technical labs, following a recommended model schedule. The Library is open to all members of the College community, including alumni who have paid dues and our Emeritus retirees. The College’s Office of the Registrar supports students, alumni, and employees. You can verify a degree or enrollment, order a transcript, and understand steps to continue your education or transfer. An academic or credit overload happens when a student registers for more than 19 credits per semester, such as three general education courses of three credits each in addition to the required technical subjects. This tends to occur when a student is trying to make up a required course. Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology has authorized the National Student Clearinghouse to provide online transcript ordering services 24 hours a day. We wouldn’t thrive today without the ongoing support and connections with regional, statewide, and national business and industry. Our relationships mean business leaders can connect with our students for internship and hiring opportunities, provide demonstrations in the classrooms, lead field trips for hands-on experience in the workplace, and support our curriculum development and classroom lab equipment. Each of our programs includes oversight from an Occupational Advisory Committee. These committees are comprised of industry and professional leadership, helping to advise on curriculum, equipment, and advocate for the program’s advancement. Because of our 97 percent placement rate, whether that’s graduates with jobs after graduation or continuing on to more higher education. Employers actively seek students and graduates to hire, to the tune of 18 job opportunities per student! Our graduates have a $52,500 median first-year salary.

Applications for enrollment are accepted starting in September of each year, with rolling acceptances beginning in December.
