The Learning Tree ABA: Nurturing Growth and Empowering Families Through Applied Behavior Analysis
For families navigating an autism diagnosis, it is often an emotional journey marked by uncertainty, advocacy, and the search for the right support system. The Learning Tree ABA has positioned itself as more than a service provider-it has become a trusted partner for families, helping children with autism build meaningful skills while empowering caregivers every step of the way.
A Family-Centered, Relationship-Driven Approach
Based in Baltimore, The Learning Tree ABA operates with a clear belief: lasting progress happens when therapy is personalized, relationships are prioritized, and families are actively involved. The Learning Tree ABA’s primary approach is a family-centered, relationship-driven model. Therapy is not viewed as something that happens in isolation, but as an extension of daily life. Parents and caregivers are treated as essential partners, not passive observers. As Evelyn Fromowitz, Director of The Learning Tree ABA emphasizes, “We don’t just work with children, we empower families with the tools, confidence, and support they need for lasting growth.” That mindset has helped families carry skills learned in therapy into homes, classrooms, and communities.
Addressing Challenges in Autism Treatment
One of the biggest challenges in autism treatment today is balancing access with quality. Families frequently encounter long waitlists, staffing shortages, insurance complexities, and inconsistent care models. The Learning Tree ABA addresses these realities through a combination of strong clinical leadership and thoughtful operational design. Rather than relying on one-size-fits-all solutions, The Learning Tree ABA focuses on ethical, evidence-based practices supported by ongoing staff training and supervision. Therapists receive consistent guidance, ensuring that each child’s program remains data-driven and responsive. At the same time, families are supported in navigating authorizations, service coordination, and school collaboration-reducing stress and allowing them to focus on their child’s growth.
Highly Individualized ABA Therapy
The facility provides highly individualized ABA therapy to children across Maryland through both center-based and home-based services. Each child’s program begins with comprehensive assessments and meaningful family input, ensuring that goals reflect real needs rather than generic benchmarks. Progress is continuously monitored, and interventions are adjusted as children grow and change. Every ABA therapy plan is tailored by a BCBA to meet your child’s unique goals, strengths, and environment.
Natural Environment Teaching (NET)
A defining feature of The Learning Tree ABA’s clinical model is its Natural Environment Teaching (NET) approach. Rather than confining learning to structured table work, NET emphasizes skill development through everyday activities-playtime, mealtimes, social interactions, and routines that naturally occur throughout a child’s day. NET also helps therapy feel less clinical and more motivating. Children learn communication, social, and independence skills in ways that align with their interests and daily experiences. Over time, this builds confidence and encourages independence-outcomes that families value deeply.

Addressing Behavioral Challenges with a Personalized Approach
Behavioral challenges are another area where The Learning Tree ABA’s personalized approach stands out. Rather than focusing solely on reducing behaviors, the team works to understand why behaviors occur and what skills a child needs to replace them. Positive reinforcement plays a central role, with interventions tailored to each child’s strengths, preferences, and developmental level. Visual supports, modeling, and proactive strategies are used to create predictable, supportive learning environments. Just as importantly, parents and caregivers are coached throughout the process, ensuring that strategies are applied consistently at home and in the community. Evelyn explains that progress accelerates when “everyone around the child is working from the same playbook, with shared goals and mutual trust.” This consistency often makes the difference in complex cases.
In one particularly challenging experience, a child presented with significant communication delays and frequent behavioral escalations across settings. Through individualized NET-based programming, targeted behavior support, and intensive parent training, the child gradually developed functional communication skills and improved emotional regulation. As strategies became consistent across therapy, home, and school, behavioral incidents decreased and meaningful engagement increased.

A Focus on Teamwork and Positive Reinforcement
The Learning Tree ABA emphasizes teamwork and a positive atmosphere. The organization celebrates every win - no matter how small. In our Center and in the field, you’ll experience a genuinely positive atmosphere where joy, laughter, and encouragement fuel real progress.
The Importance of Parent Training
As a parent, you play an integral role in your child’s treatment. Our Parent Training sessions, conducted by your child’s BCBA, gives you the opportunity to learn about your child’s treatment, progress, and what you can do to reinforce your child’s learning throughout their day. It also gives the BCBA an opportunity to learn from you more about your child and what progress/issues you are noticing as the treatment progresses. Your participation in our Parent Training sessions is vital to the success of your child’s overall progress.
Insurance and Financial Considerations
The Learning Tree ABA accepts Medicaid and most major insurance plans. Navigating insurance shouldn’t add stress to your journey - especially when your focus is your child. That’s why our knowledgeable team works directly with your insurance provider to help you access the maximum coverage available for ABA therapy. The Learning Tree ABA will attempt to verify your health insurance benefits, and or necessary authorizations for you. Please be aware, we cannot guarantee coverage or verify that definite eligibility of benefits conveyed to us or to you by your carrier will be accurate or complete. At The Learning Tree ABA, we bill your health insurance for the services we provide. In many cases, there is no cost to you for our services. However, many commercial insurance plans have deductible or copay/coinsurance charges that you may be responsible for. During the intake process, we are transparent about any potential costs and, if necessary, we work with you to come up with a payment plan that works for you.
