Theresa A. Mike Scholarship: Requirements and Opportunities
The Theresa A. Mike Scholarship Foundation (TAMSF) is dedicated to providing financial assistance to full-time students pursuing their educational aspirations. The organization raises funds to award scholarships to students attending community colleges, universities, and trade schools. Eligibility Criteria for the Theresa A. Mike Scholarship
To be eligible for the Theresa A. Mike Scholarship, applicants must meet specific criteria. The scholarship is open to students who have graduated from the Coachella Valley and are full-time post-secondary or graduate students with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher. In addition, eligible applicants must be an enrolled member of a Federally Recognized Native American Tribe. They need to be a current resident or graduate of a high school located in the Coachella Valley or Morongo Basin. They can also be an employee in good standing, or a dependent of an employee, of any entity within the Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians.

Rae Lee Siporin Scholarship for Women: This scholarship supports women who are continuing or returning to college/university for their first undergraduate degree and need financial assistance for their senior year of school. Preference is given to women who have dropped out and are returning to finish their degree.
Sussman-Miller Educational Assistance Fund: This fund provides assistance to students to further their education in an undergraduate program who need financial assistance to address the ‘gap’ in financial aid packages. It is available for graduating high school seniors who will attend a New Mexico public college/university and any student already attending college in or out-of-state.
The American Advertising Federation - New Mexico (AAF-NM) Scholarship: This scholarship supports deserving students who intend to enter the advertising profession and are currently maintaining a marketing internship.
Youth in Foster Care Scholarship Program: This program provides assistance to young adults who have been in the New Mexico foster care system who want to develop a marketable skill or continue their education at a post-secondary school.

Souder Miller & Associates (SMA) STEM Scholarship: SMA offers a scholarship opportunity to Native American students pursuing a four-year degree in STEM fields. The scholarship may be used for tuition, fees, books or on-campus housing/meals. Automatic renewal for a maximum of four academic years is at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee.
Navajo Transitional Energy Company Scholarship: NTEC offers a STEM College Scholarship Program for Navajo students currently enrolled in college.
Office of Navajo Nation Scholarships & Financial Assistance (ONNSFA): ONNSFA provides enrolled members of the Navajo Nation an opportunity to achieve their educational goals.

Indigenous Youth Summer Program
The Indigenous Youth Summer Program offers children, especially those from Native/Tribal backgrounds, the opportunity to experience institutions of higher education and a curriculum centered around culturally responsive science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Class-based instruction takes place at UC Riverside’s Palm Desert Graduate Center, and includes a field trip to Bourns Engineering Company Headquarters in Riverside, California. The program focuses on middle school and high school youth, with classes two days a week, with a morning middle school session, and an afternoon high school session. Lectures cover the creation and formation of stars and planets; energy systems, generation, storage, grid distribution; Geology; and a history of Indigenous STEM.

STEM programs often lack Tribal perspectives, leading to lower numbers of underrepresented students from Native communities entering STEM fields in higher education settings. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, American Indian and Alaska Natives make up less than 1% of the number of college graduates annually and are disproportionately absent from STEM fields and programs.
