TreyShun Hurry: A Potential Game-Changer for the FSU Seminoles?
The Florida State Seminoles football program is undergoing significant changes in its wide receiver corps. With recent departures and dismissals, the team is actively seeking to bolster its receiving options through the transfer portal. Among the potential additions is TreyShun Hurry, a redshirt junior wide receiver transfer from San Jose State. This article delves into Hurry's background, stats, recruitment, and potential impact on the Seminoles.
Wide Receiver Room Overhaul
To conclude the spring the Seminoles have taken some big hits to the wide receiver room. Junior Hykeem Williams entered the NCAA Transfer Portal earlier in the week, and redshirt sophomore Jalen Brown was dismissed over the weekend. These departures, in addition to Jordan Scott, have left the Seminoles with a need to replenish their receiving talent. With ten of the 12 remaining players across the unit standing as underclassmen, it's safe to say that the Seminoles will be looking to add talent and experience through the portal.
The Search for New Weapons
Florida State landed senior Squirrel White and junior Duce Robinson back in the winter, but more weapons are needed to rebuild a passing attack that disappointed last season. The coaching staff is having to pivot to other options. There haven't been much wide receivers that have entered the portal. One name that some of the fans on social media mention is Miami's Ny Carr, who only recorded one reception for eight yards in 2024. The Seminoles recruited him out of high school, but we saw that the process of acquiring due to potential instead of production went last year.
TreyShun Hurry: A Transfer Target
On Saturday, FSU offered San Jose State redshirt junior wide receiver transfer TreyShun Hurry. Since entering the portal on Thursday, Hurry has picked up offers from the Seminoles, Miami, Louisville, BYU, West Virginia, Baylor, and USF. The FSU Seminoles have offered transfer wide receiver TreyShun Hurry a scholarship, he announced the news Saturday afternoon on social media."Blessed to receive an offer from Florida State University," he wrote.
Player Profile
Hurry is a California native from Palmdale, California, who stands at 6-foot-2 and weighs 194 pounds. He is expected to have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Statistics and Performance
Hurry has demonstrated steady improvement throughout his college career. In 2024, Hurry appeared in 13 games, making 12 starts. He caught 28 passes for 481 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 17.2 yards per catch. He made his impression during the final three games of the year, where he had 11 receptions for 200 yards and one touchdown combined versus Boise State, Stanford, and USF. He held up well against their toughest opponents, catching 10 passes for 203 yards and two touchdowns in their games against Washington State, Stanford, and Boise State.
Prior to his time at San Jose State, Hurry played at Weber State. He redshirted as a true freshman, seeing action in three games and making two catches for 26 yards. In his second season with the Wildcats, Hurry appeared in 11 games and made eight starts. He totaled 29 receptions for 384 yards and a touchdown while rushing three times for 16 yards. He caught 31 passes for 410 yards and one touchdown in his two seasons at Weber State. There was steady improvement from Hurry as he elevated his yardage from 384 in 2023 to 482 in 2024.
Competition and Recruitment
Hurry's talent has attracted attention from multiple programs. Since entering the transfer portal, he has received offers from several schools, including Miami, Louisville, BYU, West Virginia, Baylor, and USF. There is competition in his recruitment as he has received offers from Baylor, Miami, USF, Louisville, BYU, and West Virginia.
Other Potential Additions
In addition to Hurry, Florida State has been linked to other transfer portal targets. Keelan Marion from BYU has also received an offer from the Seminoles. While they have not offered him, former North Carolina Tar Heel Gavin Blackwell is also a name to know. According to Warchant's Matt LaSerre, he spoke with FSU on Saturday and a visit is "likely." Blackwell has spent the past four seasons with the Tar Heels and is a three-star transfer. He is ranked as the No. 1074 player in the portal and No. 174 wide receiver. His most productive season came in 2022 when he caught 18 passes for 239 yards and one touchdown in 13 games. He has caught just 13 passes for 209 yards over the past two seasons, playing in just four games in 2024. While he does not have the production of Marion and Hurry, he could be another veteran in FSU's wide receiver room, which currently has just two upperclassmen.
Offseason Additions
As of now, Florida State has made five additions to the unit this offseason. White and Robinson came through the portal and the Seminoles also signed true freshman Jayvan Boggs, true freshman Tae'Shaun Gelsey, and true freshman Teriq Mallory. Earlier this offseason, FSU converted redshirt freshman Micahi Danzy from running back to wide receiver.

Departures
It's worth noting that the program brought in Jordan Scott from the JUCO ranks in December. Scott is among the five players to depart from the roster this spring, marking the end of his short-lived tenure in garnet and gold. The FSU Seminoles have lost three wide receivers in the past week with Hykeem Williams and Jordan Scott entering the transfer portal and Jalen Brown being dismissed from the team.

Community Tragedy
It’s been a somber few days since Thursday’s shooting on Florida State’s campus - as everybody has tried to process yet another tragedy in Tallahassee, part of which has included the community showcasing resilience and strength in beautiful ways, we’ve learned the identity of the two people who lost their lives, Tiru Chabba and Robert Morales. Chabba, a regional vice president of FSU vendor Aramark Collegiate Hospitality, leaves behind a wife and two children. Morales, who served as Florida State’s Dining Services Coordinator as one of his plethora of roles in the community (ranging from being one of the founders of Gordos to walking on at FSU during his college years), leaves behind a wife and a daughter who is about to graduate from FSU herself.
GoFundMe’s have been set up to support both of their families:In addition, FSU has set up a fund to provide immediate financial support to FSU students and families directly impacted by the tragedy.
