Trinity College Portal Guide: Navigating Your Journey
Trinity College offers a comprehensive online portal to assist students, faculty, and staff in managing various aspects of their academic and administrative lives. This guide provides an overview of essential portal functions and resources to help you navigate your Trinity College experience.
Accessing Protected Systems: VPN (Virtual Private Networking)
For off-campus access to protected systems like Trinity’s tamba server, a VPN connection is required. Trinity mandates the download and configuration of specific software for VPN use. Keep in mind that VPN usage might reduce network speeds, so disconnecting when finished accessing protected resources is advisable.
Remote Access to Your Office Computer
You can also connect to your office computer from home. Note that initial setup on your office computer must be done in person. When you finish a session, do not select Shut Down on your office computer; instead, select Disconnect.
Cloud Storage with OneDrive
OneDrive provides a convenient way to store and share personal files in the cloud. However, remember that your OneDrive access will terminate upon leaving Trinity.
Zoom for Online Meetings
Trinity College uses Zoom for online meetings. To ensure full functionality, including unrestricted meeting times, use Trinity’s Pro version of Zoom, not the free version. Select SSO to log in. The Zoom for Outlook Add-in allows you to set up Zoom meetings within Outlook. This add-in requires the desktop version of Outlook, which can be installed from the O365 portal.

Applying to college is a significant step. Trinity College employs a personalized admission process to evaluate applicants holistically, considering their character and potential alongside academic achievements.
Application Requirements
- Common Application: Trinity College accepts the Common Application.
- Application Fee Waiver: Trinity College will waive the application fee for first-generation college students.
- Recommendations: Only one academic recommendation is required. Recommendations from school counselors, high school teachers, and community-based organizations are welcome.

- Financial Aid: If you are applying for need-based financial aid, the CSS Profile is required.
- Transcripts and Translations: All documents, including high school transcripts (9-12), and letters of recommendations must be in English. If they are not, a certified translation must be added with the application.
- Optional Essay: In addition to the Common Application essay, you may choose to submit an optional essay that focuses on your specific interest in Trinity College.
Interviews and Standardized Tests
While not required for admission, interviews are strongly recommended as an opportunity to learn more about Trinity. Trinity College is test-optional, meaning SAT or ACT scores are not mandatory. The admissions committee makes no assumptions as to why some students choose to submit scores while others don’t.
Arts Supplement
Students with strong backgrounds and interests in the arts are welcome to submit materials in support of their application. Members of the arts faculty participate in the evaluation of submitted materials.
Early Decision
If Trinity is your first-choice college, consider applying as an early decision applicant. Both Early Decision 1 and Early Decision 2 options require a signed statement affirming the candidate’s commitment to attend Trinity if admitted.
General Requirements
Trinity requires a diploma from and certification by an accredited secondary school or a General Educational Development (GED) certification.

Checking Holds
You can check your holds at any time on the Student Center page by clicking the Details link in the Holds box on the upper-right corner of the page.
Adding Classes
- Search for classes you wish to add by clicking Search.
- You can search for a particular class by selecting a subject using the drop menu and entering a course number (PSYC 101), or you can leave the number blank for all classes in that department (PSYC).
- The status of the class will appear in the subsequent course list. Classes that appear open may have enrollment caps for class years. Be sure to check the class notes in the next step to see if there are enrollment caps for class years.
- Once you have selected the class you would like to add, click the Next button to add the class to your Shopping Cart.
- As you fill your Shopping Cart, you will see the display below. Be sure to check enrollments in the classes in which you wish to enroll the night before your appointment so that you don’t waste time trying to enroll in classes that are already closed. A list of closed classes is updated throughout the day, every day, during Advanced Registration.
Registration appointments begin at 7:00 AM on the day assigned to your class and remain in effect until the end of Advance Registration. During Advance registration, you may enroll in up to 4.75 course credits; after Add/Drop opens, you can enroll in up to 5.75 course credits. Be sure to keep only one window open to TC Online at a time. The enrollment results will be displayed. The green check mark indicates the transaction was successful, and a red X indicates an error.
Dropping Classes
- From the Student Center, click Enroll.
- From the Enrollment Page, click the Drop link.
- On your list of current classes, check the box next to the class you wish to drop.
Swapping Classes
- From the Student Center, click Enroll.
- From the Enrollment page, click the Swap link.
- On your list of current classes, select the class you wish to swap out.
- Enter the class you wish to add using the search function or enter the four-digit number as detailed above.
When you use Swap, TC Online will only process the drop if it is able to add you to the new class. Therefore, the Swap option is recommended unless you are certain you want to drop a class.
Editing Classes (Pass/Low Pass/Fail)
- From the Student Center, click Enroll.
- From the Enrollment page, click the Edit link.
- This is where you can make a class Pass/Low Pass/Fail. The “Edit” screen is where you can enter a PIN given to you by the department or the instructor offering the class.
You will be allowed to make changes to your schedule during that time and add an additional course credit, up to the limit of 5.75 course credits, if desired. These changes can be made from the Student Center on TC Online. Please see the Academic Calendar for specific dates for first quarter and regular, and second quarter classes.
Trinity College Brand and Visual Identity
Trinity College's visual identity represents the institution at the highest level. Photography is a powerful tool for conveying the Trinity College brand. The primary colors are Trinity Blue and Trinity Gold. Trinity’s brand is an articulation of what defines the quintessential experience of what it means to be a Bantam. It draws upon perceptions shaped by the stories and associations in the minds of our community and the world at large. For Trinity College, our brand today builds on the foundation set in 1823. The sum of experiences, interactions, and communications at Trinity shapes how students engage, how alumni remember their school, and how faculty and staff deliver on Trinity’s mission.
