Payment Methods

Online Payment: SVA provides an online payment portal called TouchNet, accessible through the myID account. Credit cards accepted include American Express, Discover, Visa and MasterCard. Credit and debit card payments include a non-refundable service fee of 2.95% charged by TouchNet.
Wire Transfer: International and domestic wire transfer payments can be made directly on the TouchNet Payment Portal by selecting TransferMate in the "Make Payment" dropdown menu during checkout.
Payment Plan: Students may choose to pay the cost of tuition and fees in 5 installments per semester by enrolling in the Payment Plan. There is a $50 application fee per semester for participating in the plan. A $10 late fee will be assessed each month that payment is not received by the installment due date.

Late Fees

The Office of Student Accounts will impose a late charge if any part of the semester bill is not paid when due. The late registration fee, assessed if registration occurs after the tuition due date, is $100. The late fee, assessed if tuition payment is not received by the due date for students not on the payment plan, is $200. The late fee for the payment plan, assessed each month that tuition payment is not received by the installment due date, is $10.

Health Insurance

All SVA students are automatically enrolled in the SVA-sponsored health insurance plan, Cigna PPO. Students with their own health insurance plan which must be Affordable Care Act compliant and based in the US may apply for a waiver prior to the waiver deadline.

Tuition Protection Insurance

SVA has partnered with GradGuard to offer tuition insurance to students and families as a financial safeguard. The Tuition Protection Insurance Plan helps students and their families overcome the financial losses that may result from events that force students to withdraw from the semester due to a covered medical reason. The deadline to enroll is the day before classes begin each semester.

Tuition per Credit

2026-27 Undergraduate: Students registered for more than 15 credits per semester (16 credits per semester for BFA Visual and Critical Studies) will be billed for each additional credit at $1,840 per credit.
2026-27 Graduate: Students registered for less than 12 credits or more than 15 credits per semester for Graduate courses (16 credits for Design Research, Writing and Criticism fall semesters) will be billed at the rate of $2,055 per credit. The Art Practice program per credit rate will be billed at $1,985.
2025-26 Graduate: Students registered for less than 12 credits or more than 15 credits per semester for Graduate courses (16 credits for Design Research, Writing and Criticism fall semesters) will be billed at the rate of $1,985 per credit.

Veteran Students

The School of Visual Arts welcomes veteran students. In accordance with the Veterans Benefits and Transition Act of 2018, Title 38, Section 3679(e), students who are entitled to educational assistance under Chapter 31, Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment, or Chapter 33, Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits, will not incur any penalty because of their inability to meet their financial obligations to SVA due to the delayed disbursement of funding from the Department of Veteran Affairs.
