Navigating Student Football Tickets: A Comprehensive Guide
Gaining access to college football games is a cherished experience for many students, fostering school spirit and creating lasting memories. Understanding the intricacies of student ticket policies, acquisition methods, and game day procedures is crucial for maximizing this experience. This guide aims to provide a comprehensive overview of student football tickets, covering various aspects from eligibility and acquisition to game day conduct and potential consequences for policy violations.
Eligibility and Access
The cornerstone of attending college football games as a student lies in understanding the eligibility criteria and the available access options. Most universities offer a dedicated sports pass or ticket system designed specifically for students.
A sports pass usually provides access to all home football games during the regular season. It also grants the opportunity to attend home events for other ticketed sports during both the fall and spring semesters on a first-come, first-served basis. Some universities also offer a "spring sports pass" designed for students who want to purchase a sports pass when they complete spring semester registration. This pass grants access to all non-football home regular season ticketed sporting events on a first-come, first-served basis. Eligible spring sports may include men's and women's basketball, indoor and outdoor track & field, baseball, and softball.
Ticket Acquisition Methods
The process of obtaining student football tickets varies across institutions, but common methods include online ticket pulls, lotteries, and first-come, first-served systems.
Some universities use a ticket pull system, where students log in to their accounts and "pull" a ticket for each game. Creating or joining a group does not guarantee a ticket. Deck preferences are also not guarantees. If you pull with a group, it will include the group's name. Tickets are not delivered immediately. You may be able to purchase a guest ticket when pulling your ticket, if available. If you miss your designated day, you can pull on lower classification days.

Other universities might employ a lottery system, where students enter a lottery for a chance to claim a ticket. For example, at Baylor, all first-year students may place themselves in the ticket lottery every Monday prior to a home game to claim either a Baylor Line Ticket or a General Admission Student Section Ticket, for each home game.
Guest Tickets and Seating Arrangements
Many universities offer options for students to bring guests to football games, often through the purchase of guest tickets.
Some sports passes offer the option of adding one prepaid guest ticket for each regular season home football game. The guest ticket will be issued alongside the student ticket, and the guest must enter the stadium with the sports pass holder. Both tickets will be located in the student section, where standing is customary.
Understanding seating arrangements is also essential for an enjoyable game day experience. Some universities have dedicated student seating areas, such as the Baylor Line for first-year students and a General Admission student section for all students.
Accessible student seating may also be available at some stadiums for students with needs that prevent standing during games. These seats are typically located in specific sections and can be requested during the ticket pull process. The first and second decks of the student seating area can often be accessed via ADA-accessible elevators. Escalators may also provide access to both the first and second decks.

Rules, Regulations, and Penalties
Adherence to university and athletic department policies is paramount for student ticket holders. These policies often cover topics such as ticket resale, appropriate conduct, and prohibited items.
Resale of student tickets (home, road, or postseason) and sports options for profit is generally prohibited. Students' sports options are heavily subsidized by season ticket holders. Former Students and Aggie fans have long been committed to maintaining the quality and size of the student allotment. In return, Texas A&M students, the 12th Man, are expected to honor this commitment. These tickets, home and away, are for student use only. Students found to be in violation of this policy will be penalized.
At Baylor, students that have reserved a ticket and are no longer able to attend may return tickets through the online return process by noon two days in advance of kick-off. No show tickets may result in restrictions for future ticket claims. Student tickets are not transferable and not able to be sold.
Violations of these policies can result in penalties ranging from warnings to revocation of ticket privileges.
Game Day Experience and Conduct
The game day experience extends beyond simply having a ticket. It encompasses aspects such as appropriate attire, conduct within the stadium, and respect for fellow fans and university staff.

At Baylor, student participants are not permitted to wear opposing team gear or colors during the entirety of the Student Game Day Experience.
Your presence and your excitement make a huge difference in the game experience for other fans and for the team, so a few years ago, we increased student seating by 20% to over 11,000 student tickets! We look forward to seeing you at every single game this year and cheering our Bears to victory.
Additional Considerations
Several other factors can influence a student's ability to access and enjoy college football games. These include deadlines, refund policies, and communication channels.
Students who withdraw or graduate after the season is completed will not receive a refund.
It is important to stay informed about any changes or updates to ticket policies and procedures. Universities often utilize various communication channels, such as email, social media, and websites, to disseminate information to students.
