Navigating UAA Student Housing Options: A Comprehensive Guide
Finding suitable housing is a crucial aspect of the college experience. For students attending the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA), understanding the available on-campus and off-campus housing options is essential for a smooth and successful academic journey. This article provides a detailed overview of UAA student housing, covering eligibility, on-campus residences, off-campus alternatives, safety considerations, and resources for students with disabilities.
On-Campus Housing: An Overview
UAA offers a variety of on-campus housing options designed to cater to different needs and preferences. Any student age 18 or older can apply for campus housing. To be eligible, students must be registered in three (3) credits over the course of the summer, if they intend to live on campus during that period. Campus housing is exclusively for students; spouses, partners, or children are not permitted to reside in student housing.
Application Process and Waitlist
The Life Office tracks application numbers as students apply. Due to high demand, students may need to be added to the housing waitlist. The waitlist form has no associated fee. If a student is offered a space and declines, Life Staff will move on to offer space to the next person on the waitlist. It's important to note that if a student will be moving off campus at the end of the semester, their housing page should clear their browser cache or history and log in again to ensure accurate information.
Residence Halls
UAA’s residence halls offer suite-style housing with one (single suite), two (double suite) or four (quad suite) bedrooms and one or two bathrooms within each suite. These halls provide a community living experience with shared facilities. The residence halls have community kitchens in the lobbies.
The MAC
The MAC (Main Apartment Complex) offers apartment-style living for students with a shared, outdoor "Quad" adjacent to the MAC Laundry Shack laundry facility.
