Exploring the UBS Sophomore Internship Program
For sophomore students eager to dive into the world of finance, the UBS Sophomore Internship Program offers a compelling pathway. This program provides an invaluable opportunity to gain practical experience and insights into the financial services industry, particularly within a global context. The program is designed for those with an interest in the financial industry.
Overview of UBS
UBS stands as the world’s largest and only truly global wealth manager. The company operates through four distinct business divisions: Global Wealth Management, Personal & Corporate Banking, Asset Management, and Investment Bank. The Global Banking Summer Sophomore Analyst Program is designed to provide candidates that have completed their sophomore year with exposure to UBS and the financial services industry. The program will serve as a potential pipeline into the following year's internship program.
Program Structure and Divisions
Within UBS, the Global Banking division plays a crucial role. It provides coverage, advisory, capital markets, and financing solutions for corporate, financial institutions, and sponsor clients. As part of the Coverage & Advisory group, participants gain in-depth knowledge of industry sectors and clients, working alongside a team that provides comprehensive advisory services. As a participant in the Program, you will be part of a business that provides integrated solutions in advisory, equity, debt, and leveraged capital markets and financing.
The UBS Evidence Lab Experience
One particularly interesting area within UBS is the Evidence Lab team in New York. This sell-side team specializes in turning data into evidence. It consists of experts who work across various specialized areas, creating insight-ready datasets. They apply a combination of tools and techniques to harvest, cleanse, and connect billions of data items each month. For students interested in working with alternative data, this presents an exciting opportunity.
Skills and Qualities Sought
UBS is looking for individuals who are curious and eager to thrive in a dynamic business environment. While all majors are welcome, an interest in the financial industry is essential. The company values unique individuals and seeks to understand what each person can bring to the team. Examples of valuable experiences include organizing a fundraising event, participating in team sports, or stepping outside of one's comfort zone to learn something challenging.
