Initial Coaching Session
During the initial coaching session, your assigned coach will work with you to get to know you and your academic and career goals, and will then design with you a plan for success. This involves understanding the student's academic program, career goals, and personal circumstances to create a customized plan for success.
Routine Coaching Sessions
During your routine coaching sessions, your assigned coach will help you to set goals, create realistic success strategies, and monitor your success during your time at UCF. The coaches help students set achievable goals, develop effective study strategies, and track their progress throughout their academic journey.
Accessing Your Academic Success Coach
Students can schedule an appointment with their Academic Success Coach through MyKnight Star. Log into Myknightstar through your MyUCF account. This user-friendly platform allows students to easily connect with their assigned coach and access personalized resources.

Navigating Key Academic Processes
Academic Success Coaches play a crucial role in helping students navigate various academic processes, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience.
Registration Assistance
Students can register during their enrollment appointment time, which is posted in MyUCF. Undergraduate students with a UCF GPA of 3.5 or higher as of February 1st are eligible for multiple term registration. For courses offered in the College of Health Professions and Sciences, students should contact their Academic Success Coach to request an override. The Academic Success Coach will work with the department to determine if an override can be granted. Coaches can assist students with course selection, registration procedures, and understanding eligibility criteria for programs like multiple term registration.
Transient Course Requests
The College of Health Professions and Sciences (CHPS) will consider a student’s transient request to take a course towards their major at another institution. For courses taken outside of the Florida College or University System, students must submit a Non-SUS Transient Student Form. Students must be enrolled at UCF during the term of graduation. Students may not be transient during the term of graduation. Academic Success Coaches guide students through the process of requesting to take courses at other institutions, ensuring they meet the necessary requirements and submit the appropriate forms.
Late Add Requests
Late add requests are reserved for extenuating circumstances, and they are accepted only during the second week of the semester. When the request is submitted, please allow time for review and processing. If the request is approved by the College of Health Professions and Sciences, the late add request will be submitted to UCF Academic Services for final review and approval. Coaches provide guidance on submitting late add requests, helping students navigate the process and understand the criteria for approval.

Orientation for FTIC Students
All First Time in College (FTIC) students must attend orientation prior to registering for courses at UCF. Academic Success Coaches ensure that new students are aware of the orientation requirement and understand its importance in preparing for their academic journey.
Transfer Credit Evaluation
Students transferring in with an Associate of Arts degree from an institution within the Florida College System will have all General Education Program requirements met at UCF. Students transferring from a private or out-of-state institution will have their credits evaluated for equivalency. Coaches assist transfer students in understanding how their credits will be evaluated and applied towards their UCF degree requirements.

The 70-hour Coach Professional training program combines the Practitioner level training with 30 hours of additional content, with participants required to not only demonstrate foundational knowledge, but also to apply advanced coaching techniques and skills, including roster management, group coaching, and coaching students through unique issues and challenges. The 140-hour Coach Master training program combines the content of the foundational Practitioner training and the advanced Professional trainings, with master-level content designed to signify that participants have achieved a mastery of student coaching, including strategy-building and quality assurance skills for both student and coach success. The 20-hour Peer Coach training program is specifically designed for currently enrolled higher education students, and teaches fundamental understanding of peer coaching techniques and skills, and how to apply these skills in a peer coach role on a higher education campus. Before joining UCF, I was a Bilingual Elementary Teacher and worked in marketing, sales, and acquisitions in various industries.
