- Complete Child Development Common Program Prerequisite courses with a minimum letter grade of "C" (2.0) or better.
- Meet the State Writing and Math Requirement.

Teacher Certification Track
The Teacher Certification Track is tailored for students aiming for teacher certification in Pre-Kindergarten-Primary (PK-3) with ESOL Endorsement and Reading Endorsement.

Purpose and Benefits:
The minor is ideal for students seeking a deeper understanding of education and development, or those considering careers working with young children in fields such as social work, psychology, or health services. It enhances the marketability of the student's major program.
Admission Requirements:
- Complete the University General Education Program requirements or its equivalent, i.e. an A.A. degree from an approved Florida College System or State University System institution.
- A minimum overall GPA of 2.75.
- No credit by exam (CLEP, Military credit) may be used. Transfer credits from other universities will be considered.
Minor Requirements:
Students must maintain a minimum overall MINOR GPA of 2.75. At least 12 hours used in the minor must be earned at UCF. Once the minor is declared and approved, students must schedule an appointment with their program advisor.
Important Note: Completion of the Early Childhood Development and Education Minor does not complete the requirements for certification in Early Childhood Development.
Master of Science in Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE)
The Master of Science program in Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) caters to professionals seeking to advance their knowledge and skills in working with young children and their families.
Program Focus:
The ECDE program offers relevant and rigorous coursework and academic experiences. The program is designed for candidates with undergraduate degrees in a wide range of areas either related to early childhood development and education, such as child development, psychology, communication disorders, sociology, nursing, theatre, music or other degrees.

The program of study includes advanced professional development in early child development and education for careers with direct and indirect services for young children and families. Direct early education services to young children and families can include homes, schools, and other community settings, such as child care and Head Start. Indirect services can include: child assessment, program evaluation, child care resource and referral, early learning coalitions, community college instruction, and child advocacy.
Certificate Program
UCF also offers a certificate program consisting of entry-level courses that prepare individuals for employment in the early childhood field.
