Navigating the UCF Fall Semester: Key Dates and Opportunities
The University of Central Florida (UCF) attracts students from across the nation and around the globe to pursue their higher education goals in Orlando, the heart of Central Florida. UCF provides access to extraordinary academics, caring faculty and endless opportunities. With over 245 degree programs in 12 colleges, plus a talented team of faculty and staff, UCF helps students find the path that’s right for them.
Why Choose UCF?
Students choose UCF for a multitude of reasons, including its beautiful location, friendly professors, challenging academics, and thrilling activities. U.S. News & World Report notes that more students transfer to UCF than to any other university in the country. Whether students are planning to complete their bachelor’s degree or are seeking a new college with bigger opportunities, UCF provides the tools and support needed to transfer and succeed. Plus, if students earn an A.A. or articulated A.S. degree from one of UCF’s partner institutions, DirectConnect to UCF guarantees admission, consistent with community/state college and university policy. The Office of Transfer and Transition Services is available to help make the transition smooth and seamless.
Application and Admission
Admission to UCF is competitive, so prospective students are encouraged to apply early. As an incoming first-year student, it is advisable to apply between September and November of their high school senior year if they plan to enroll the following summer or fall semester. Applying early may lead to scholarship consideration and improved housing availability.
Accelerated Terms and Flexible Scheduling
UCF's 2024-25 academic calendar introduces accelerated terms that provide students with greater flexibility and shortened pathways to obtaining a degree. The calendar launches in the 2024-25 academic year, and students will be able to register for accelerated terms for the Summer and Fall 2024 semesters. UCF colleges will determine the courses, if any, that they’ll offer in the accelerated sessions. Available courses will be listed in mySchedule Builder during the term’s registration period.
The new accelerated sessions allow students to select courses that suit their schedules and earn their degrees in a timely fashion. Beginning in the 2024-25 academic year, UCF is providing additional class scheduling options to colleges.
