The collection contains letters from the following actors and actresses: Brian Aherne, George Alexander, James Matthew Barrie, John Barrymore, Arthur Bourchier, Mary Buckley, Billie Burke, Mrs. Patrick Campbell (aka Beatrice Stella Cornwallis-West), Fay Compton, Fay Davis, Maxine Elliott, Sydney Fairbrother, Johnson Forbes-Robertson, John Gielgud, Yvette Guilbert, John Hare, Beatrice Harraden, John Martin Harvey, Charles Hawtrey, Seymour Hicks, H.B. Betty Bronson was an actress whose career began in Hollywood's Silent Era and spanned several decades. She is best remembered for her role as Peter Pan in the 1924 version of the film, Peter Pan. Kendall Carly Browne scripts, ca. 1960s-ca. There is very little biographical information available about Kendall Carly Browne. She was married to producer Her Braverman and was the mother of Bart Braverman. The actress's credits include The Ed Wynn Show and a small number of lesser-known projects such as I Wonder Who's Killing Her Now?, Fear City, and Dreamscape. Diahann Carroll papers, ca. 1940s-ca. Over the course of her career, actress and singer Diahann Carroll has been involved in a number of stage, motion picture, and television projects as well a business and philanthropic activities. The bulk of the collection includes musical arrangements, clippings, and photographs documenting assorted stage, motion picture, and television projects. As an actor, he appeared in motion pictures and television series. Susan Clark was a motion picture and television actress. She may be best known for her role as Katherine on the television series Webster. The bulk of the collection consists of scripts from the television series Webster. Actress Virginia Brown Faire appeared in over forty silent film productions. This collection includes business papers, correspondence, sheet music, media, and memorabilia from the private collection of comedian and actress Phyllis Diller. Diller broke ground as one of the first and most prominent woman comedians through her stand-up act, films, television appearances, books, and records. George Gray was an actor, director, and makeup man for both film and television. The collection consists of five photograph albums including George Gray's silent film production stills, personal and family photographs. Paul Hartman (1910-1973) was born in San Francisco, California. He was a dancer, actor, magician, and singer appearing in vaudeville, the theater, film, and television. Actress Carolyn Jones was best known for her role as the ghoulish Morticia in the television series The Addams Family. Actress and singer Shirley Jones has appeared in movies like Oklahoma!, The Music Man, and Carousel, and is well known for her role as Shirley Partridge on the television show, The Partridge Family. Versatile character actor Allyn Joslyn's acting career spanned from the 1920s to the 1970s. Steven Keats was born in New York, 1945. He graduated from Manhattan's High School for the Performing Arts and then served in Viet Nam (1965-1966) before attending the Yale School of Drama and Montclair State College. Keats made his Broadway debut in the second cast of Oh! Calcutta (1970). His film roles include Hester Street, Death Wish, and Black Sunday. His television roles include parts in The Awakening Land and The Executioner's Song. David Walley research material about Ernie Kovacs, ca. Charles Laughton (1899-1962) was a theater and film actor, radio personality, and public performer. May McAvoy was a silent screen actress who gained popularity during the early 1920s. She also reigned as Rose Queen for the 1923 Tournament of Roses. Nancy Malone papers, ca. Nancy Malone began her career at the age of six, modeling and appearing on live radio and television programs. She went on to become an accomplished actor, director, and producer and was a co-founder of Women in Film, the nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting women's roles within the entertainment industry. Alan Mandell is an accomplished theater and film actor, theater manager, stage director, and producer. He was a founding member of the San Francisco Actorâs Workshop and the San Quentin Drama Workshop, managed the Repertory Theatre of Lincoln Center, and was consulting director for the Los Angeles Actorsâ Theatre and the Los Angeles Theater Center where he ran the Poetry Literary Series. Mandell is considered to be a foremost interpreter and scholar of Samuel Beckettâs works. There is little information available about Todd Mason. During his career, he worked as an actor, did voiceovers, and was a newspaper writer. From 1968-1975 Mason was an associate of Mike Connors and worked for the television series Mannix. 1973. De Sacia Mooers (1879-1960), acted on stage in New York and starred in silent movies in California. Donald Randolph was a stage, film, television, and radio actor. Jay Riley was an African American actor who started his career in 1932. He appeared in Broadway productions and also found roles in motion pictures and television. The collection consists of scripts, clippings, press books, scrapbooks, programs, photographs, awards, records, correspondence, and miscellaneous material related to the career of the actress, Rosalind Russell. Violet Schram was an actress on the stage, radio, and film. Randolph Scott papers, ca. The collection consists of material related to the career of actress Ann Sothern. Includes scripts, business records, and production material for The Ann Sothern Show, along with correspondence, proposals for television series and pilots, production records for summer stock and night club acts, handwritten scores, and sheet music. George Spaulding (1881-1959) was a screen, stage, radio, and television actor, as well as a stage producer and playwright. Dennis Bishop is an American film and television producer who has worked on numerous projects including commercials, award winning features and television projects. The collection contains Bonnie Cashin's personal archive documenting her design career. The collection includes Cashin's design illustrations, writings on design, contractual paperwork, photographs of her clothing designs, and press materials including press releases and editorial coverage of her work. Wah Chang papers, ca. 1928-2000, bulk, ca. Dan Curry, born Daniel F. Curry, is an Emmy Award-winning fine artist and filmmaker. He is best known --- and has won seven Emmy awards for --- his work as Visual Effects Producer of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, and Star Trek: Enterprise. This collection documents Curryâs work as visual effects producer of these series, as well as his work on other motion picture and television projects. Harold Grieve was an art director in the film industry during the 1920s. His credits include The Prisoner of Zenda (1922), So This Is Paris (1926), and The Devil Dancer (1927). His film career began in 1913 when he was hired by the Lubin Company to paint and design sets. He relocated to Los Angeles in 1922. He worked on a variety of films and was nominated for 5 Academy Awards. The collection consists of materials related to Grot's career as a motion picture set designer and art director. Colin Higgins Papers, ca. Colin Higgins (1941-1988) was a screenwriter and director of the film comedies Harold and Maude, Silver streak, Foul Play, and Nine to Five. Harry Horner was a Hollywood art director and production designer who worked on such films as The Heiress (1949), The Hustler (1961), and They Shoot Horses, Don't They? (1969). His collection consists of set designs and includes blueprints, drawings, boards, fabric, and color samples. Dorothy Jeakins built an impressive list of credits in theater, film, and television and came to be respected as one of the best costume designers in the entertainment industry. Billie Jenkins papers, 1969-2006; bulk ca. Collection consists of materials related to the professional career of production designer and art director George Jenkins. Includes research material, sketches, and floor plans. Research materials consist of location photographs, scripts, schedules, notes, color samples, and budget records. Sketches include original drawings in pencil, charcoal, and watercolor of scenes and sets. Floor plans include blueprints of stage sets built for film or television productions, or map out existing buildings including furniture details, elevations, and continuity sketches. George P. George Perry Johnson (1885-1977) was a writer, producer, and distributor for the Lincoln Motion Picture Company (1916-23). After the company closed, he established and ran the Pacific Coast News Bureau for the dissemination of Negro news of national importance (1923-27). He started the Negro in film collection about the time he started working for Lincoln. Phil Karlson (1908- ) was born Philip N. Karlstein. He worked in many positions at Universal Studios, including propman, film editor, associate producer, and finally as feature editor in 1944. He was known for directing realistic crime films. The collection consists of screenplays and related materials of motion pictures directed by Karlson. The collection consists of material related to the career of documentary film director and producer Irving Lerner. Includes scripts and treatments, production material, correspondence, clippings, photographs, and scrapbooks. Contains material related to the motion pictures, Studs Lonigan (1960) and The Royal Hunt of the Sun (1969), the television series, Ben Casey (1961-66), and unproduced projects, The Blue-Eyed Wonder, written by Don Richie, and St. Anthony's Forty Blondes by John Fante and Carey McWilliams. Collection consists of material related to Jean Renoir's career as director and screenwriter. John Weld (1905- ) was a stuntman in Hollywood films (1923-26), a reporter for several newspapers, and a producer of film documentaries.
