Navigating UCLA Printing Services: A Comprehensive Guide

UCLA offers a variety of printing, copying, and scanning services to cater to the diverse needs of its students, faculty, staff, and even the public. This guide provides a detailed overview of the available options, locations, and procedures for accessing these services.

Accessing Copy Machines

Psychology department employees (faculty, staff, postdocs, researchers, etc.) and graduate students have access to the copy machines. To access the copy machines, swipe your BruinCard in the card reader to the left of the copy machine’s panel. If you don’t have your BruinCard, tap ID Number on the panel and enter your 9-digit UID (University ID) number. To request access for non-employees (e.g. undgraduate students) please submit a helpdesk request. To make copies, tap Device Functions on the panel and then tap Copier. To scan, tap Scan on the panel.

Free Printing for Graduate Students at the GSRC

The Graduate Student Resource Center (GSRC) provides a valuable service for graduate students, offering access to 250 pages of free black and white printing per quarter, including summer sessions. All registered graduate and professional students are eligible for this allotment.

To utilize this free printing service, visit the Graduate Student Resource Center (SAC B-11) and log on to any of the computer workstations using your MyUCLA login credentials. Once logged in, you can view your remaining pages in the bottom lower right corner of the computer screen by clicking on the tree icon called Print Manager Plus. Print Manager Plus will display the number of pages remaining at the GSRC and other free campus printing labs. It's important to note that prints are black and white only.

The 250 pages includes double sided printing (e.g. 1 paper double sided equals 2 printed pages). Printing counts will reset on the first official day of each quarter and a new 250 page allotment will be automatically added to your account.

UCLA Library Print-Copy-Scan Services

For color printing or other advanced printing services, the UCLA Library offers a comprehensive suite of options. Black and white copiers are available in all libraries. Current UCLA students, staff and faculty can pay for copies with their BruinCard. Library BruinPrint/Wēpa kiosks, provided in partnership with ASUCLA, can complete both black-and-white and color printing requests. Files can be uploaded for printing via a USB drive or to BruinPrint. Members of the public can pay using credit card, PayPal, or with funds they've uploaded to their Wēpa account.

Self-Service Scanning

Self-service scanning is free for all users. Flatbed scanners are available in the Louise M. Darling Biomedical Library, the Charles E. Young Research Library, the Science and Engineering Library. Large format overhead scanners are available in the Arts Library, Music Library and Research Library.

Important Policies and Procedures

Several policies and procedures govern the use of UCLA's printing services. Credit card payments on BruinPrint/Wēpa kiosks include an additional $0.40 fee, regardless of the number of pages. BruinCards may not be transferred or used by individuals outside UCLA; it is a violation of UCLA Library policy.

For BruinPrint kiosks, see Refund Procedure for Defective Prints. For copiers, report refund requests to the Office of Reprographic Services at (310) 825-6982. The message should include the problem and location, BruinCard ID number and a contact number.
