State-of-the-Art Facility
The UCLA Rolling Hills Imaging Center, designed by SWA Architects, is a state-of-the-art facility spanning 18,000 square feet across two floors of an existing office building in Rolling Hills, CA. The facility includes specialized imaging rooms, physician offices, reading rooms, a staff lounge, and an IT room, along with mechanical and electrical service rooms.
SWA Architects addressed several challenges during the construction of the imaging center. The building’s structural system required extensive reinforcement to accommodate the two new MRI units and single CT scanner. The existing building's HVAC system was upgraded to meet OSHPD 3 requirements for the new imaging center. Custom acoustical isolation assemblies were designed and installed beneath the two MRI suites to minimize sound/vibration transmission to the floors below during operation.
