Navigating UCLA Parking: A Guide to Yellow Permits and Exemptions
UCLA's parking system can seem complex, especially for students, employees, and visitors. This article provides a comprehensive overview of UCLA's parking policies, focusing on Yellow Permits and the exemption process.
Understanding UCLA Yellow Permits
Generally, UCLA employees eligible for parking receive Yellow (Non-Reserved) Permits. These permits are valid for specifically assigned parking areas. It is important to note that permits are only available online through the Bruin ePermit Portal.
Saving Money on Parking
UCLA offers several options to save money on commuting to campus:
- Carpooling: Zimride helps you find one-time rides or create/join a carpool with fellow Bruins.
- Bruin Commuter Club (BCC): Commuting by public transit, bicycle, carpool, vanpool, or by foot may make you eligible to join the BCC.
Parking Exemptions for Students
Students with extenuating circumstances that necessitate having a car on campus may apply for a parking exemption. Exemption requests must be submitted each quarter, with the exception of Summer, by the quarterly application deadline. Exemption offers are considered on a case-by-case basis, are dependent upon available parking allocations, and are not guaranteed.
Student parking exemption requests for Winter 2026 are no longer being accepted.
