Unlocking Opportunities: Exploring the Benefits of the UIC Alumni Association

The UIC Alumni Association (UICAA) serves as a lifelong conduit, connecting graduates to the University of Illinois Chicago community and offering a wealth of opportunities for personal and professional growth. This article delves into the various benefits available to UIC alumni, highlighting how the association fosters connections, provides valuable resources, and celebrates the achievements of its members.

A Lifelong Connection to UIC

The UICAA provides a platform for alumni to maintain a strong bond with their alma mater. It is where your lifelong connection to the UIC community starts. This connection extends beyond graduation, offering continuous engagement with the university's vibrant community.

Networking and Mentorship Opportunities

One of the primary advantages of joining the UICAA is the opportunity to connect with fellow alumni and current students. UIC Connected is an exclusive virtual network where you can connect with fellow alumni and current students for mentorship, networking and career growth. This platform facilitates mentorship programs, networking events, and career development initiatives, fostering a supportive environment for career advancement. When you join, you can decide how you want to share career advice, build networks and help one another grow and connect.

Alumni Awards and Recognition

The UICAA takes pride in acknowledging the accomplishments of its outstanding alumni. Every year the UIC Alumni Association is proud to recognize outstanding UIC alumni who have achieved extraordinary success in their respective fields and have made notable contributions to their communities. Through the annual Alumni Awards Celebration, the association honors individuals who have demonstrated exceptional achievements in their respective fields and made significant contributions to their communities. Nominations for the Alumni Achievement, Distinguished Service, Humanitarian and Rising Star Leadership Awards are open from June to August. Nominations can be made by members of the UIC Community, other alumni, friends of the university, or through self-nominations. Awardees are honored at the annual Alumni Awards Celebration.

Leadership and Guidance

The University of Illinois Chicago Alumni Board provides leadership by advising and supporting meaningful alumni engagement that connects UIC alumni to one another and the university. This board plays a crucial role in shaping the direction of the association and ensuring that it effectively serves the needs of its members. To learn more about the UIC Alumni Board, click here. Campus Perks and Privileges

Beyond networking and recognition, UIC alumni can also access various campus perks and privileges. Along with salary and benefits, the University of Illinois continuously seeks additional benefits to offer employees. These additional benefits are not required of the University and might be called “perks.” Goods, services or privileges granted to employees may be offered in addition to salary and standard benefits. On their own, these perks usually have no cash value, but in conjunction with salary and other benefits may have tax implications, (see policies on employee tuition waivers below). Employees receive reduced rates on certain campus events, programs and services and at many off-campus retailers.

Recreation Memberships

All University of Illinois graduates, including Residents and Fellows, that have completed their University of Illinois program are eligible for the Alumni membership. This membership allows access to the Student Recreation Facility, Sport & Fitness Center, and Outdoor Field Complex. Graduation will be verified when the membership application is processed. Proof of graduation is required if status cannot be verified. A valid, government-issued photo ID must be presented when applying for a recreation membership. Qualifying individuals may purchase memberships for their spouse/domestic partner, child, or adult dependent (18-26). The eligible Alumni does not need to be a member in order for their spouse/domestic partner or adult dependent to purchase a membership, but both must be present with proper documentation at the time or purchase or renewal.

Important Considerations

It's important to note that certain benefits, such as insurance coverage, are subject to change. This highlight is not a certificate of insurance or a guarantee of coverage. Premium rates may change upon renewal and can be adjusted for the entire group or a specific class. A class is defined in the group policy. Benefits are subject to change upon agreement between the carrier and the participating organization.
