Maximizing Your Miami Hurricanes Experience: A Guide to Student Ticket Discounts and Perks

The University of Miami offers a variety of ticket discounts and perks to students, alumni, faculty, and staff, enhancing the overall experience of being part of the ’Canes family. From athletic events to cultural experiences and everyday services, there are numerous ways to save money and enjoy the benefits of being affiliated with UM.

Football Season Tickets and the Waitlist

Due to overwhelming demand, access to Miami Hurricanes Football season tickets is currently limited. The university is offering access to a waitlist for season tickets for the 2026 season, indicating a high level of interest in supporting the team.

Discounts for Alumni and Employees

University of Miami Alumni and full-time eligible employees can save up to 20% on season tickets. This discount provides a significant incentive for alumni and employees to stay connected with the university and support its athletic programs.

Exclusive Game Day Experiences

For those looking for a premium experience, the luxurious suites at Hard Rock Stadium offer an ideal setting to entertain clients, strengthen relationships, reward your team, or enjoy time with family and friends. The Terrace Suite, a premium open-air space, can accommodate up to 40 guests, while the Social Club, a vibrant 300 Level group space, is perfect for groups of 80-160.

Student Ticket Information

Currently, student tickets are unavailable until the start of the 2026 season. This situation underscores the high demand for student tickets and the university's efforts to manage distribution fairly.

The Championship Game Ticket Frenzy

Tickets to the big game at Hard Rock Stadium are not only expensive but also hard to get, especially for students. In a past instance, of the 20,000 tickets allotted to the University of Miami, only 1,000 were designated for students. Half were sold at face value ($475), and the other half were freebies from a playoffs sponsor. The tickets were distributed via lottery by the UM ticket office.

The supply was far less than the demand, with more than 4,000 student requests for the championship game. The ticket office allocated the initial 500 tickets based on 2025 home football game attendance and later released 500 more upper-level tickets. Potential student buyers entered a virtual waiting room for a lottery, and winners were randomly selected.

Secondary Market Ticket Prices

For those not affiliated with UM, tickets on the secondary market can be extremely expensive, ranging from $3,000 to $35,000. This price range highlights the high demand and limited availability of tickets for major games.

Additional Discounts and Benefits for Alumni

University of Miami alumni have access to a variety of discounts and benefits, including:

Graduate students and part-time undergraduate students can opt to pay the athletic fee to claim complimentary tickets to Hurricanes athletic events.

Ticket Claim Process

Each student must claim a student ticket the week of the game, but claiming a ticket does not guarantee admission. Students must present their CaneCard and ticket at the NW Student Gate to enter. The student section is typically comprised of sections 106/107 & 117/118.

Game Day Entry

Students are wrist-banded with a certain color to indicate those who have access to the lower bowl. They are then ushered to a specific entrance at the Northwest Gate of Hard Rock Stadium and led to the student sections in the 100 level of the stadium. The student entrance closes at the end of the first half.

Ticket Claiming Procedures

Once the athletic fee has been paid and confirmation is received from the Hurricane Ticket Office, students can use UM’s single sign-on process to access their account and claim their tickets.

Ticket Limits and Deadlines

Students may claim one ticket for each Football and Men’s Basketball game, starting on Sunday at noon the week of the game. For Football, the deadline to claim a student ticket is Wednesday at 11:59 PM before each home game.

Guest Tickets

Students may purchase up to one student guest ticket for select home football games, subject to availability. The guest ticket must be added to their Apple Wallet for entry, and a wristband will be provided upon entry to distinguish the seating level.

For Olympic sports, students do not need to claim a student ticket, but a CaneCard is required for entry.
