Navigating the University of Montana: A Comprehensive Guide to GrizPortal and Student Resources

The University of Montana (UM) offers a wealth of resources and opportunities for its students. To effectively navigate these resources, students rely on GrizPortal, UM's information dashboard. This guide provides a comprehensive overview of GrizPortal and other essential student resources, ensuring a smooth and successful college experience.

Accessing and Customizing GrizPortal

First, log in to GrizPortal using your NetID and password. If you do not have a NetID or are experiencing issues with your NetID, contact the IT Helpdesk. Once logged in, you will be directed to the Home page, which displays an array of different “cards” designed to help you access different kinds of information and services at UM.

You can customize your Home page in several ways. The All Cards page allows you to browse through all the cards that are available to you currently within GrizPortal. Each card has a bookmark icon in the upper right-hand corner. Cards with a filled-in bookmark icon are already visible on your Home page, while cards with the empty outline of a bookmark icon are not visible on your Home page.

Once you have clicked to View All Cards, there are three tools that can assist you in finding more cards that may be of interest to you. The search bar allows you to look up cards by typing text into the search field. The calendar icon will open a side menu to display a calendar and any tasks that have been assigned to you (or that you have created for yourself). Your user profile can be used to review the roles that you are assigned in the GrizPortal (which determines card visibility) and some of your general personal information. Note: If you leave an anonymous comment on this article, we cannot help you because we don't know who you are. When this menu is open, a “Resources” dropdown option will be visible.
