Understanding UNF SAT Score Requirements and Admission Standards

Transcripts:
- High School Transcripts: It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that official high school transcripts have been received by the Office of Admissions by the posted deadline. Applicants can submit the Self-Reported Transcript and Academic Record System (STARS - formerly known as SSAR), which allows students to enter all courses and associated grades that have been attempted, or will be attempted, for high school and/or college credits without requiring the submission of an official transcript to the university. All freshman applicants (except international students) should link their STARS to their application through their applicant portal. Applicants are required to submit final, official transcripts reflecting graduation from high school no later than 30 days after the start of the term to which they have been admitted.
- Post-Secondary Transcripts: It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that an official transcript from every post-secondary institution they have attended has been received by the Office of Admissions by the deadline. Test Scores: UNF requires all applicants for freshman admission to submit either CLT, SAT or ACT scores.

GPA Calculation
The Office of Admissions recalculates a grade point average (GPA) based on eighteen academic credits in college preparatory courses. This computation does not recognize plus or minus grades. Additional weight is given to grades of "C" or higher earned in advanced, honors, dual enrollment, AP, IB, or AICE courses. The Office of Admissions computes a grade point average (GPA) for each institution attended, as well as a cumulative GPA on all college courses attempted.
Standardized Testing: SAT, ACT, and CLT
UNF requires all freshman applicants to submit scores from either the SAT, ACT, or CLT. The university superscores tests, meaning they will consider your highest subsection across multiple attempts of an exam and create a new composite score.
The first administration of the Redesigned SAT was in March 2016. UNF will accept scores for both versions of the SAT exam for all future terms: those exams taken before March 2016 and those taken after that date. UNF will continue to use your highest subscore from all tests (also known as your superscore) for both admission and scholarship decisions.
Starting April 2025, the ACT exam no longer requires the Science subsection, though the 1-36 scoring scale remains unchanged. For admission and UNF scholarships eligibility, UNF uses the best individual scores on ACT Reading, Writing and Math sections to calculate a composite superscore.
Academic Midranges of Admitted Students

Admission Statistics and Selectivity

To have a great shot at getting in, scoring at a 1180 SAT or above will already give you a great shot at getting in. Scoring a 1260 SAT or a 25 ACT or above will nearly guarantee you admission. The average GPA at University of North Florida is 4.1. requires you to be at the top of your class. You'll need nearly straight A's in all your classes to compete with other applicants.
Special Cases
Home School Applicants
Home school applicants must submit transcripts indicating course title, semester, grade, and awarded credit for all academic courses. Please see the UNF Home School Transcript Form for assistance or a template. Home school students applying to the University must meet the first-time-in-college (FTIC) admissions requirements. Students must submit the STARS when applying during their senior year.
G.E.D. Applicants
Applicants who received a G.E.D. must submit evidence of passing scores on the subtests of the G.E.D. exams and a G.E.D. Students applying with a GED to UNF must meet first-time-in-college (FTIC) admissions requirements and submit a copy of their GED diploma instead of high school transcripts.
Students with Disabilities
Students with disabilities applying to UNF must submit all the general application materials. Applicants who wish to appeal a denial based on a disability may submit documentation verifying the disability, along with the letter of appeal.
Additional Information
Dual Enrollment and Advanced Credit
Students enrolling in dual-enrollment courses throughout high school may be able to transfer their credit to UNF. Students are encouraged to enroll in advanced credit-earning mechanisms while in high school. During your senior year, UNF does not need to have your AP, IB, AICE or CLEP scores to review your application for admission. Your scores on these tests will not impact the admissions decision.
Graduating High School with an A.A. Degree
High school students who intend to earn an Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree from a Florida College System (FCS) or State University System (SUS) institution by high school graduation can be admitted by one of two ways. Appeals Process
A student who is denied admission to UNF has a right to appeal that decision. If he or she chooses to appeal, the applicant must submit the appeal form and supporting documentation detailing the reasons the application should be reviewed. Applicants who wish to appeal based on a disability may submit documentation verifying the disability along with the letter of appeal. Please note that there is no guarantee that an appeal decision will result in admission to the University of North Florida.
Tuition Deposit
Freshmen are required to submit a $200 non-refundable tuition deposit no later than May 1 to secure their place in the class. The tuition deposit will be credited to the applicant’s account and applied toward the first semester tuition.
