How to Program Your RCA Universal Remote: A Comprehensive Guide
Losing your TV or cable box remote can be frustrating. Fortunately, an RCA universal remote offers a convenient solution. Similar to programming a cable box remote to manage your TV's power and volume, setting up an RCA universal remote involves a straightforward process to link it to your TV and other devices. RCA remotes are versatile and can control not only TVs but also cable boxes, select Blu-ray and DVD players, and even some audio systems. Let’s explore how to program your RCA universal remote to control your devices.
Initial Setup
Before you begin, ensure you have the RCA universal remote and the devices you wish to control. The remote typically comes with a codebook, which is essential for manual code input.
Programming Using the Play Button Method
This method involves using the Play button to search for the correct code for your device.
- Press and release the TV button on your RCA remote.
- Simultaneously press and hold the TV button and the On/Off button. The illuminated On/Off button will turn off.
- Release both buttons after the On/Off button relights.
- Press and release the Play button on your RCA remote. If the TV (or component that you are programming) does not turn off after five seconds, continue to hit the Play button every five seconds until the TV turns off.
- When the TV turns off, your remote has found the right code. Next, press and release the Reverse button.
- Repeat steps 1 through 7 for each additional device you wish to pair with your remote. Be aware that you might cause issues with the syncing mechanism if you press incorrect buttons. There’s certainly a learning curve that involves some trial and error to set up your remote successfully.
Finding RCA Universal Remote Codes
Your RCA remote typically includes a codebook that contains various codes for numerous devices. Alternatively, you can find device codes on the remote itself.
- Find the paper sticker on the back of the battery panel.
- Your device codes will display below. It is normal to have multiple.
