University of Texas at Arlington Scholarships: A Comprehensive Guide
The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) offers a multitude of scholarship opportunities to support students in their academic pursuits. Financial limitations should not prevent any student from pursuing a college education. With over $40 million in scholarships awarded each academic year, UTA strives to make higher education accessible. This article provides a detailed overview of the various scholarships available at UTA, covering eligibility criteria, application processes, and specific programs.
General Scholarship Information
UTA provides competitive scholarships, grants, and other funding opportunities to help students pay for their degree. To be considered for UTA's merit-based scholarships, students must turn in all documents required by UTA Admissions before the scholarship deadline. By meeting this requirement, all new, incoming students are automatically considered for these scholarships. The scholarship deadline for all 2025-26 UTA merit-based scholarships was March 1, 2025. All scholarships listed below are available to students that are admitted for the Fall 2025 semester.
The Scholarships Office does not offer scholarships for incoming graduate students, students in a non-degree seeking program, accelerated online students, or students in the Coordinated Admission Program (CAP). All students are encouraged to visit Mav ScholarShop for additional merit and need-based scholarships available at the university. Mav ScholarShop is a one-stop shop designed to give you the most comprehensive access to UTA’s generous scholarship offerings.
The 2025-2026 General Scholarship Application for All Students is now open! You will need to complete this application to be considered for scholarships that are for fall. You can check to see if you have been offered a scholarship by looking under the "Awards" tab. As a current or newly-admitted student, Mav ScholarShop has created a student profile for you - also referred to as a general application based on your information in MyMav. You may be a good candidate for a scholarship, but more information is required. All available scholarship opportunities automatically render when you click the "Available Scholarship Opportunities" button. You must login before you will be able to apply. Check back regularly to review your profile and to look for new scholarship opportunities. Just because you see a available scholarship application doesn't not mean that you are qualified for the scholarship opportunities within that application. Scholarship deadlines vary, so log in often to view any new scholarships or to check on pending scholarship applications. Qualifying and applying to scholarships does not guarantee that you will be offered a scholarship; this is a competitive process.
External Scholarship Opportunities
Outside scholarships include any funding received from sources other than UTA, the state, or the federal government. Awards sent by foundations, civic and religious organizations or companies are common examples of outside scholarships.*TeachDFW.org is a non-profit organization who partners with local Educator Preparation Programs to provide future Dallas-Fort Worth area teachers with one-on-one career advising, scholarships, how-to guides from experts, financial assistance toward application/testing fees, and more. **The Gatehouse DFW is a local nonprofit that offers assistance for single mom's completing a bachelor's or master's degree.

3M Grant
At 3M, science is applied in collaborative ways to improve lives daily and make a positive impact. Started by five founders that had a straight forward purpose in 1902: to mine corundum, a mineral that is suitable to creating sandpaper and grinding wheels. This small company may have been doomed from the moment they discovered the low-quality material, yet the founders persisted. Why? Because something even more essential was born that first year: the spirit of creativity and collaboration that is still at the heart of 3M today. Instead of giving up, the group experimented with other materials, applied them to other goods, acquired the faith of key investors and gradually increased sales. This grant is open to undergraduate STEM and Nursing majors to aid in the recruitment and retention of students with STEM ambitions in order to address the nation's expanding STEM needs. Applicants must demonstrate financial need by completing the FAFSA or TASFA for the aid year in which the scholarship will be awarded.
