Faculty Positions in the Department of Computer Science

The Department of Computer Science (CS) at the University of Cincinnati is dedicated to educational excellence and developing and sustaining premier research programs with national and international recognition. The department offers ABET-accredited undergraduate programs in Computer Science, as well as graduate programs that confer Master of Science, Master of Engineering, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees.

The Department of CS invites applications for multiple tenured or tenure-track positions and non-tenure track positions at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor levels.

Tenured and Tenure-Track Positions

The Department of Computer Science is seeking candidates for multiple tenured or tenure-track positions at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor levels. These positions are 9-month full-time appointments, paid over 12 months with full University faculty benefits.

Areas of Interest:

The department seeks candidates in areas of computer science and computer engineering including but not limited to those with a research focus in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and expertise in neuromorphic computing, cognitive science, bioinformatics, or closely related fields, as well as candidates with interdisciplinary research that bridges AI with emerging areas in cognition, biology, and computation.

Responsibilities:

Successful candidates will be expected to develop an externally funded research program and conduct research in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and/or Deep Learning, specifically, in applications with bioinformatics and/or computational biology. The chosen candidates will be expected to contribute (at both the graduate and undergraduate level) to the department’s educational and mentoring mission of preparing students to become high-performing professionals in the workplace. The chosen candidates will also be expected to contribute to the advancement of research missions within the department and college. In addition, the chosen candidates will be expected to further the strategic goals of the Department, the College, and the University via collegial collaboration and teamwork both within the ECE Department and with other CEAS departments, across the University, and with regional industries.

The Department of CS also invites applications for multiple non-tenure track positions as an Assistant/Associate/Full Professor - Educator in Computer Science. Term-Adjunct (Part-Time) Faculty Positions

The Department of Computer Science invites you to apply for the position of Term-Adjunct (part-time) faculty positions. You are invited to submit an application to be included in the general pool of candidates from which qualified faculty roles will be filled. The number of positions varies depending on the needs of the department and there is no guarantee that an open position currently exists. Appointments are renewed based on departmental need and teaching performance. Classes may be day or evening.

Additional Opportunity in the Department of Engineering and Computing Education

The Department of Engineering and Computing Education (DECE) within the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) at the University of Cincinnati (UC) invites applications for up to two non-tenure track position(s) at the level of an Assistant/Associate Professor - Educator to support its educational mission. Rank/title will be based on credentials. DECE provides a number of common courses, including those taken by all first-year engineering students (e.g., Introduction to Engineering Design Thinking I and II). This position will focus on teaching DECE undergraduate and graduate courses, as assigned, at UC and at a collaborative Chinese university, including but not limited to the Joint Co-op Institute (JCI) at Chongqing University (CQU) in Chongqing, China. JCI is a joint venture between UC and CQU. Such courses will be taught in English. Must have a Ph.D. Candidates will be required to obtain immigration documents for entry/work eligibility into China.
