University of Detroit Mercy: Career and Job Opportunities

A Legacy of Excellence and Service

UDM's history is a testament to its commitment to education and service. Founded in 1877 by the Society of Jesus, it expanded to become the University of Detroit. In 1941, the Sisters of Mercy established Mercy College of Detroit. These two institutions consolidated in 1990 to form the University of Detroit Mercy. Since its inception, the University has united students, faculty, staff, and community members to develop individuals "for and with others." This commitment is reflected in its dedication to service, the promotion of justice, and compassionate outreach to those in need within the community, region, and worldwide.
