How to Apply for General University Scholarships

Incoming Freshmen

Incoming freshmen are automatically considered for General University Scholarships by completing the undergraduate admission application. No separate General University Scholarship application is required for incoming freshmen to be considered for UO Alumni Association scholarships for which they are eligible.

To be considered for scholarships, applicants must meet all admission deadlines.

Incoming Transfer Students

Incoming transfer students must apply for admission and submit the General University Scholarship Application and any supplemental materials by the deadlines set by OSFAS to be considered for UO Alumni Association scholarships for which they are eligible.

New Undergraduate Transfer Students (transferring to UO in Spring, Summer or Fall 2026) and New Post-Baccalaureate Applicants must complete the following to receive full review:

  • Apply for admission to the University of Oregon by March 15.
  • Within days of applying for admission, find your UO Student ID number in your Status Portal.

Current UO Undergraduate Students

Current UO undergraduate students who wish to apply for a General University Scholarship for the following academic year must submit the General University Scholarship Application and any supplemental materials by the deadline set by OSFAS to be considered to UO Alumni Association scholarships for which they are eligible. Preference is given to students who have previously received a UO Alumni Association scholarship.

Before applying for scholarships, you must submit an application for admission to the University of Oregon. If you are already an enrolled student, skip to step 3.

  2. Log into the DashboardLog in to the UO Scholarship Dashboard and apply for scholarships.

Scholarship Renewal

General University Scholarships are awarded for one year only. Continuing undergraduates, and continuing graduate and law recipients will be notified by June 1. As an incoming student, you will automatically be considered for some scholarships when you apply to the University of Oregon, and you will have to apply separately for others.

UO Alumni Association Scholarships

The UO Alumni Association provides chapter and group scholarships to support incoming and returning undergraduate students, and supports the Presidential Scholarship program through the UOAA Board of Directors. All UO Alumni Association scholarships are administered through the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships, using UO scholarship applications.

UOAA Chapter and Group Scholarships

UO Alumni Association chapter and group scholarships are administered through the General University Scholarship program. Awards vary between $1,000-$3,000, as set by the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships and are awarded for one year only. Students who have received a UO Alumni Association scholarship in the past are eligible to receive one again, with no limit to the number of years they may receive the scholarship.

Chapters and groups currently awarding UO Alumni Association academic scholarships include: Desert Ducks (Arizona), Chicago Ducks, Denver Ducks, Hawai’i Ducks, Lane County Ducks, Bay Area Ducks, Orange County Ducks, Portland Ducks, Seattle Ducks, San Diego Ducks, and LA Ducks.

The DC Ducks and the New York Ducks provide Intern Scholarships to current students interning in their area.

UOAA Presidential Scholarships

The UO Alumni Association awards Presidential Scholarships incoming students from Oregon. Presidential Scholars receive up to $36,000 over four years of undergraduate study. To be considered for a Presidential Scholarship, students should follow the application process outlined by the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships, including completing the online Presidential Scholarship Application by the required deadline.

UOAA Board of Directors Scholarships

The UO Alumni Association Board of Directors awards a scholarship annually to an incoming student from Oregon. The UOAA Board of Directors Scholar receives up to $10,000 over four years of undergraduate study.

Additional Scholarship Opportunities for First-Year Students

Some scholarships for incoming first-year students require an additional, separate application. Others are awarded automatically based on the materials in your undergraduate application for admission and/or the financial information on your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Stamps Scholarship

Stamps Scholars also receive up to $12,000 of enrichment funds over their time at the UO. In addition to this generous financial support, Stamps Scholars are guaranteed admission to the Clark Honors College.

  • Demonstrated leadership, perseverance, scholarship, service, and innovation
  • Awarded to at least 20 students annually, split between Oregon residents and non-resident students

Presidential Scholarship

Presidential Scholars receive up to $36,000 over four years of undergraduate study-$9,000 per year (split evenly over fall, winter, and spring terms). Approximately 50 first-years receive this scholarship each year.

Summit Scholarship

Apex Scholarship

Need-Based Scholarships

PathwayOregon Scholarships

The PathwayOregon program covers all tuition and fees for up to 12 terms over the course of five years, and can be combined with other scholarships to cover remaining costs such as housing and books.

  • Oregon Residents
  • Have graduated from an Oregon high school in the last two years
  • Minimum 3.40 high school GPA
  • Eligible for a federal Pell Grant as determined by the FAFSA
  • Automatic consideration for the award if application materials (application form and FAFSA) are received by the normal deadline of January 15

Staton Scholarships

Staton Scholars receive $7,350 per year for 4 years.

  • Oregon Residents
  • Demonstrated extraordinary financial need as determined by the FAFSA
  • Preference for first-generation college students
  • Preference is given to students who declare a major in the humanities, visual arts, education, or music.
  • Automatic consideration for the award if application materials (application form and FAFSA) are received by the normal deadline of January 15

Honors College Tuition Waiver Scholarship

The CHC Tuition Waiver Scholarship covers the added cost of honors college tuition for up to 12 terms of study. For the 2025-2026 academic year that amount is $3,037 per year.

  • Demonstrated financial need as determined by the FAFSA
  • Automatic consideration for the award if application materials (application form and FAFSA) are received by the normal deadline of January 15

Map Your Future Scholarship

The Map Your Future Scholarship awards $1,000 towards participation in a University of Oregon-approved study abroad program, to be used at any point during the student's undergraduate career.

  • Requires a separate application

Duck Excellence Scholarship

Duck Excellence Scholars receive $7,500 per year, renewable for up to four years as long as the student maintains full-time student status, a minimum 3.0 University of Oregon grade point average, and meets regularly with their scholarship advisor in the Center for Multicultural Academic Excellence (CMAE).

  • Academic performance and participation in community activities
  • Individual's demonstrated contributions to and support for diversity within their community
  • Preference for Oregon residents, first-generation college students and students with demonstrated financial need

Erickson Scholarship

The Robert J. Erickson Kaiser Permanente Scholarship awards $5,000-$6,000 per year, renewable for up to four years as long as the student is on track to graduate in four years, maintains a 3.3 University of Oregon grade point average, and meets regularly with their scholarship advisor in the Center for Multicultural Academic Excellence (CMAE).

RJ Hoyman Scholarship
