Comprehensive Education and Training

The primary focus of the Department of Dermatology is to provide an integrated dermatology and allergy/immunology curriculum to medical students, residents, allied health professional students, and fellows. The department's educational activities are broad and far-reaching. The Residency and Fellowship programs are designed to exemplify clinical training, academic achievement, and a collaborative environment. The department is committed to providing integrated medical student dermatology education across all four years of medical school.

With the expansion of fellowships in Pediatric Dermatology and Allergy & Immunology, the department aims to meet the growing educational and clinical needs of the population.

Community Engagement and Outreach

Trainees and faculty actively participate in community outreach programs, including sun-safe programs for children, case-based learning series for primary care providers, and continuing medical education symposiums regionally and globally.

Clinical Care and Specialties

The department offers a wide range of specialized services, including:

  • General Dermatology: Diagnosis and treatment of common skin conditions.
  • Pediatric Dermatology: Specialized care for infants, children, and adolescents with skin disorders.
  • Dermatologic Surgery: Surgical procedures for skin cancer and other skin conditions.
  • Cosmetic Dermatology: Treatments to improve the appearance of the skin.
  • Allergy and Immunology: Diagnosis and management of allergic skin diseases and asthma.

The Population Health Center on North Temple has open appointment slots, making it easier for patients to access dermatological care. Appointments can be scheduled at 801-581-2955.

Same-Day Dermatology Clinic

Recognizing the need for immediate attention to certain skin problems, University of Utah Health offers a Same-Day Dermatology clinic. This clinic provides appointments for patients with urgent skin issues. We understand that sometimes you need to see a doctor right away.

Allergy and Asthma Clinic

University of Utah Health's allergic skin diseases and asthma clinic offers allergy testing to identify the causes of allergic reactions. When your body has an allergic reaction, the reaction can cause both skin allergies and asthma.
