Navigating Student Health Resources at UNTHSC
The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth (UNTHSC) is dedicated to supporting the well-being of its students through a comprehensive network of health resources. These resources range from on-campus clinical services to support for basic needs and mental wellness. This article provides an overview of the health resources available to UNTHSC students, ensuring they have access to the care and support they need to thrive academically and personally.
UNTHSC Health: An Overview
UNTHSC Health functions as the patient care and clinical service delivery arm of the university, integrating all colleges and institutes. This clinical practice serves as a platform to bolster UNTHSC's mission through interprofessional education, clinical care delivery, and research. The UNTHSC Clinical Practice Group, rooted in interprofessional collaboration, concentrates on primary care and enhancing health outcomes for everyone, aiming to foster a healthier community.
The clinical faculty provide care throughout greater Tarrant County and are on staff at all of the major hospitals in our community along with several of the premier continuing care retirement communities in Fort Worth.
UNTHSC Clinical Practice Group
Located in the Health Pavilion on the UNTHSC campus, the UNTHSC Clinical Practice Group encompasses 13 unique clinics. These include:

The practice is structured around clinical services or departments that enable students, faculty, and patients to converge for education, research, and patient care. Interprofessional teams in each clinic collaborate to develop optimized treatment plans tailored to the individual patient. The UNTHSC Clinical Practice Group is committed to improving health outcomes by identifying strategic opportunities to leverage health outcomes and improve clinical operations, workflow, and financial performance. Notably, the UNTHSC Clinical Practice Group was the first health care organization in Fort Worth to be recognized as an Age Friendly Certified Business.

Student Health Services
The Health Clinic, situated on the third floor of the Health Pavilion at 855 Montgomery St., offers UNTHSC students easy access to affordable health care. The mission is to provide HSC students with easy access to affordable health care for a healthier UNTHSC community. Exceptional providers and staff are committed to providing optimal health care to students by offering primary and preventive services.
All visits are by appointment only. Students must provide proof of insurance and are responsible for all appropriate fees as outlined in their individual insurance policies. Referrals to HSC Health specialty providers must be approved by Student Health Services or the student’s primary care physician, in accordance with their insurance carrier.
TimelyCare Services
Students do not need insurance to access TimelyCare services.
Mental Wellness Resources
The Care Team
The Care Team offers support to students experiencing challenging or concerning circumstances. The Care Team often collaborates with other offices within the campus community. Students can submit a concern within one central online form, which allows them to identify and provide context for the nature of their concern.
Mindful Corner
The Mindful Corner was designed as a space where students can relax and destress. It features comfortable seating and user-adjustable lighting and sound. Students can leave messages for one another and sharing illustrations in Mindful Corner. Mindful Corner is designed for neurodivergent students. It is located in the Student Activity Center and open during FAC hours beginning in September of 2023. Faculty and staff can also take a moment to relax and de-stress in the Mindful Corner. The Mindful Corner aims to reduce stress, improve mood and promote productivity.

Additional Campus Resources
UNTHSC Police Department
Operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the UNTHSC Police Department provides comprehensive law enforcement services. Police officers are fully licensed peace officers vested with all the powers, privileges, and immunities of peace officers in the State of Texas. They are authorized to function as the local law enforcement authority in all counties in which property is owned, leased, rented, or otherwise under the control of UNTHSC.
Officers routinely patrol the campus by foot, electric bicycles and vehicles. State criminal laws are enforced, as are administrative and state traffic regulations governing driving and parking restrictions. Officers take police reports when an offense or an incident is reported, and criminal cases are filed with the Tarrant County District Attorneys Office. The non-emergency phone number for UNTHSC Police Department is 817-735-2210.
Those who operate motor vehicles and bicycles on campus must comply with the Texas Uniform Traffic Code and the published regulations regarding vehicle and bicycle use, parking, display of permits, and penalties for violations.
Veteran Services
UNTHSC is approved by the Texas Veterans Commission for the training of men and women who have served in the armed forces, their families, and their survivors. Assistance is provided to students who are on active duty, are veterans, or family members of veterans eligible for benefits. Students should contact the Registrar and Student Records Office for the appropriate forms to establish eligibility for assistance. The completed forms and any supported documents must be forwarded to the Registrar and Student Records Office.

Housing and Food
The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth (UNTHSC) does not provide on-campus student housing. However, students will find a variety of housing opportunities in the area. Students are responsible for making their own housing arrangements. HSC does not assume any responsibility in housing arrangements but does support the federal housing policies that housing owners not discriminate because of race, color, gender, age, disability, veteran status, or national origin.
Snack food is available from various on-campus vending machines.
