The University of Tampa (UTampa) offers a vibrant and supportive environment for undergraduate students seeking a well-rounded education. With a park-like campus in the heart of a thriving tropical city, UTampa provides a unique blend of academic rigor and real-world experiences. This article delves into the various aspects of the UTampa undergraduate portal, covering admissions, academics, campus life, and resources, to help prospective students navigate their journey to becoming Spartans.

Admissions: Your First Step to Becoming a Spartan

Applying to UTampa is the first step toward joining a diverse community that strives for excellence. The university offers several application options to cater to different student needs and timelines.

Application Types

UTampa categorizes undergraduate applicants into several types:

  • First-Year: This category is for students who have not earned any college credit or have accumulated college credit before graduating high school (including dual enrollment, AP, or IB credits).

  • Transfer/Returning: Students who have earned a high school diploma or GED and will have earned 17 or more college credits in a traditional Fall or Spring term at the time of enrollment are classified as transfer students. Transfer applicants must be in good standing at their previous institution. It's important to note that Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, AICE, CLEP, dual-enrollment, and military credit (JST) do not count toward the 17 earned credit requirement but will be considered for potential transfer credit upon admission. Former UTampa students returning to complete their undergraduate degree should also apply under this category. Transfer applicants are evaluated and considered for admission on a rolling basis.

  • Continuing Studies: This category is for non-traditional students seeking to take classes part-time to complete an undergraduate degree or enroll in courses without pursuing a degree from UTampa, including transient students.

Application Options for First-Year Students

First-year students have three application options:

  • Early Decision: This is a binding option for students who have identified UTampa as their top choice. Early Decision students must submit an Early Decision Agreement form as part of their application, in addition to the required supporting documents.

  • Early Action: This allows students to receive an early admissions decision while still exploring other colleges and universities.

  • Regular Decision: This is a non-binding option that allows admitted students until May 1 to make a final decision and confirm their enrollment.
