Unlock Your Potential with the Vita Link and Learn Program

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, supported by United Way of West Florida, offers free, reliable tax preparation for hardworking individuals and families with an income level of $69,000 or less. IRS-certified volunteers provide accurate, secure, and no-cost tax filing services, allowing individuals and families to retain more of their earned income. VITA serves a diverse population, including students, seniors, people with disabilities, and taxpayers with limited English proficiency. Even non-U.S. citizens with an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) may be eligible for assistance.

What is the Vita Link and Learn Program?

The VITA Link and Learn program is a comprehensive initiative designed to train and equip volunteers to provide free tax preparation services to eligible individuals and families. This program offers a variety of training methods and resources to ensure volunteers are well-prepared to assist taxpayers with their returns.

Accessing Training and Resources

VITA volunteers can utilize a combination of training and resources that best suit their learning style and needs.

Link and Learn Account

All volunteers are required to create an account on Link and Learn, the IRS certification test site.

TaxSlayer Practice Lab

Those planning to certify as a tax preparer will also need to create an account on TaxSlayer Practice Lab. This tax software simulation is used to prepare tax returns and answer questions on the Basic and Advanced tests. Refer to the Practice Lab Guide for instructions on accessing Practice Lab and creating an account.
