Speaker Events

The WUFC hosts speaker events that provide students with the opportunity to hear from and interact with prominent figures in the finance industry. For example, this year, WUFC had the pleasure to host the second Speaker Event with Paul J.

Annual Conference

The Annual Conference is one of WUFC's most anticipated events of the year. This year's conference was a wonderful opportunity for WUFC members to hear from our Keynote Speaker Michael Klein (Founder & CEO of M. Klein and Company). These conferences offer invaluable insights into current trends and future directions in finance.

NYC Trek

During the NYC Trek, club members travel to New York City, the financial capital of the world. They tour the city, have lunch at iconic landmarks like the Empire State Building, and visit sponsor companies such as Rothschild & Co at their office. This immersive experience provides students with a firsthand look at the industry and allows them to network with professionals in a real-world setting.

Breaking Into the Buy-Side: A Private Equity Panel

This panel discussion features seniors who will be working full-time at different PE firms like Blackstone, Ares, Bain Capital, KKR, and Vista Equity Partners. They share their experiences during recruiting and their internships, offering valuable advice and guidance to students interested in pursuing careers in private equity.

Recruiting Events

Meet and network with companies at various WUFC-hosted recruiting events. These events provide a platform for students to connect with potential employers and learn about internship and full-time opportunities.

Committee Structure and Opportunities

The WUFC is organized into various committees, each focusing on a specific area of finance. These committees provide members with the opportunity to develop specialized knowledge and skills, as well as contribute to the club's activities.

Joining a Committee

The club has two application cycles for committees adhering to all timelines and guides set out by Wharton Council: one in the Fall semester, and another in the Spring. You can apply on PennClubs during one of these sessions if you are interested in a committee.You are permitted to apply to up to 2 committees. You should be able to select this in the WUFC application.While you cannot automatically switch from one committee to another, you may apply to another committee through the regular application process. Based on your performance in your current committee, your current VPs may boost your chances to get into your preferred committee through an internal referral.

Case Team

The Case Team is open to all students, providing an opportunity to hone their analytical and problem-solving skills through case studies and competitions. You can apply by submitting the application through Penn Club. If you want to learn more about investing technicals in specific, I would recommend looking into applying for the case team as well!

Investment Team

The Investment Team offers members the chance to gain hands-on experience in investment analysis and portfolio management. The Investment Team meets 1h every week. In addition, you will have weekly assignments which require some additional work outside of the meetings.

Other Committees

In addition to the Case Team and Investment Team, the WUFC likely has other committees focusing on areas such as marketing, technology, and event planning. These committees provide a diverse range of opportunities for students with different interests and skills.

General Body Membership

For students who may not be ready to commit to a specific committee, the WUFC offers a General Body Membership (GBM) option. You can sign up as a GBMer by signing up for our listserv! GBMs receive updates on club events and activities and are welcome to attend general meetings and workshops.

How to Join the WUFC

The WUFC welcomes all Penn students from any school to apply to any committee or to be a GBM.
