Navigating Fall Semester Registration: A Comprehensive Guide
Successfully registering for the fall semester is a crucial step in your academic journey. This guide provides comprehensive information on registration dates, eligibility, and essential steps to ensure a smooth registration process.
Understanding Registration Periods
Most institutions operate on a priority registration system, granting earlier access to registration based on student status and accumulated credit hours. Students currently enrolled typically receive priority. The more credits you’ve earned, the earlier you can register. This system rewards academic progress and allows students with more completed coursework to secure their desired classes. If you try to register after a class has started, you will get an error saying “Adds not allowed after 1st day”.
Registration typically opens approximately six weeks before the start of the term, and you can register up to the first day of class.
Many institutions divide the registration period into phases:
Registration Period I: This is typically reserved for currently enrolled students with a higher number of completed credit hours.

Registration Period II: This phase primarily caters to newly admitted students and returning former students. Registration Period II opens at midnight.
Registration Period III: Registration Period III opens at midnight.
Key Steps to Prepare for Registration
Before your registration date arrives, it's essential to take the following steps:
Retrieve Your ACCeID: If you haven’t already done so, retrieve your ACCeID to register for classes and gain access to your online student tools. This unique identifier is vital for accessing the registration system and other online student resources.
Clear Any Student Holds: Check your student account for any holds that may prevent you from registering. These holds can be due to various reasons, such as unpaid fees, overdue library books, or incomplete required documents. Addressing these holds promptly will ensure a seamless registration process.

Determine Credit Hour Eligibility: Credit hour eligibility is based on ACC course completed hours plus ACC course hours in progress. Understanding your eligibility will help you plan your course selection effectively.
Financial Aid and Affordability
ACC offers a variety of ways to keep college affordable, including financial aid, scholarships, and work-study opportunities. Explore these options to alleviate the financial burden of higher education.

Late Registration: For 8-12 week classes, the late registration deadline is the second Tuesday of the term. For short-term classes, which have earlier deadlines, it is two business days after the drop deadline for the class.
Late Registration Procedures
If you miss the regular registration deadline, you may still be able to register for classes during the late registration period. However, late registration often comes with additional steps and potential restrictions.
If you try to register after a class has started, you will get an error saying “Adds not allowed after 1st day”.
For 8-12 week classes, the late registration deadline is the second Tuesday of the term. For short-term classes, which have earlier deadlines, it is two business days after the drop deadline for the class.
Here's a general outline of the late registration process:
Check for Availability: Ask the instructor if there is availability in the class.
Register in MyPCC: Register for the class in MyPCC.
Meet the Deadline: You must register for the class by the late registration deadline (see when to register above). The late registration deadline is typically the same as the drop deadline. This means you must be certain you want the class, as you won’t be able to drop it after that date.
Instructor Approval: Click your instructor’s name.
Additional Considerations
Continuing Student Status: Note: You are NOT considered a continuing student if you take two or more consecutive quarters off (excluding summer).
Registration Start Date: Your registration start date is based on your completed credits as of the Thursday before the first day of Period I registration. You may register on, or after, your registration start date.
ACCESS Students: ACCESS Students are registered only by the OUR Registration Team on the third (3rd) day of the quarter.
Late Additions: After the Late Add Period, students can no longer add courses through Register.UW and will need to submit a Late Add Petition to make changes.
