CeeDee Lamb: From Oklahoma Standout to Dallas Cowboys Star

Cedarian DeLeon "CeeDee" Lamb, born on April 8, 1999, is an American professional football wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL). Lamb's journey to the NFL began with a stellar high school career and continued with impressive performances at the University of Oklahoma.

High School Career

As a senior, Lamb showcased his exceptional talent with 98 receptions for 2,032 yards, ranking fourth in state history. He also recorded 33 receiving touchdowns, tying for second in state history, and three punt returns for touchdowns. Lamb, along with quarterback Alex Ramart, led the team to a 14-1 overall record, with their only loss in the 5A-D1 state semifinals to Temple High School.

College Career at Oklahoma

Lamb's college career at Oklahoma was marked by consistent excellence and contributions to the team's success.

2017: Freshman Season

As a true freshman in 2017, Lamb caught passes from quarterback Baker Mayfield, who later won the Heisman Trophy.

2018: Sophomore Season

In 2018, Lamb's starting quarterback was Kyler Murray, who also went on to win the Heisman Trophy. Lamb was a key contributor in the Sooners' 12-2 record and playoff appearance. He played in all 14 games with 13 starts, catching 65 passes for 1,158 yards and 11 touchdowns, leading the team in the latter category. Lamb also served as the team's punt returner, with 17 returns for 218 yards and a 12.8-yard average, ranking second in the Big 12.

2019: Junior Season

During his junior year in 2019, Lamb caught passes from quarterback Jalen Hurts, who finished second in the Heisman Trophy voting. He earned first-team All-American honors after recording 62 passes for 1,327 yards and 14 touchdowns. Lamb's 21.4 yards per reception was the highest ever in a single season by an Oklahoma player with at least 50 receptions.

NFL Career with the Dallas Cowboys

Lamb was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys and has since become a prominent player.

2020 Season

In his rookie season, Lamb demonstrated his potential and quickly became an important part of the Cowboys' offense.

2022 Season

Lamb finished the 2022 season with 107 receptions for 1,359 yards and nine touchdowns, all career-highs, in 17 games and starts. He was named as a Pro Bowler for the second time and was also named to the AP All-Pro 2nd Team.

2023 Season

CeeDee Lamb continued to impress, breaking records and earning accolades. He was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week and broke Bob Hayes' Cowboys record for most 100-yard receiving games in his first four seasons. Lamb also broke multiple Cowboys records in a win against the Detroit Lions. He was named to the AP All-Pro teams.

2024 Season

Before the season began, Micah Parsons guaranteed CeeDee Lamb's return amid contract holdout. Eventually, Lamb agreed to a four-year $136M deal with the Cowboys. During a game against the 49ers, CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott found a “rhythm” during Lamb’s breakout game. Lamb was named to the Pro Bowl and All-Pro teams.

2025 Season

In Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles, Lamb recorded seven receptions and 110 yards, but also dropped four passes in a 24-20 loss to the Eagles, including a potential game-winning pass. Lamb took accountability after the game, saying "That’s terrible, I can’t point no fingers at nobody else." Later in the season, Lamb injured his ankle in a loss, sidelining him for at least two games. Despite this, he tied a Cowboys legend for an incredible franchise record. He was also added as a Pro Bowl replacement, earning his 5th straight selection.

CeeDee Lamb's accomplishments extend beyond individual games and seasons. He achieved a feat unparalleled in NFL history, becoming the first player to accomplish a specific receiving milestone.
