Finding the Right Motorcycle Riding Course for You
Learning to ride a motorcycle can be an exhilarating and liberating experience. Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced rider looking to sharpen your skills, choosing the right motorcycle riding course is crucial. This article explores different types of motorcycle courses and what they offer, with a focus on options available and factors to consider when making your decision.
Beginner Courses: Starting Your Riding Journey
The Basic Riders Course (BRC)
For those with little to no motorcycle experience, a Basic Riders Course (BRC) is the ideal starting point. These courses provide a comprehensive introduction to motorcycle operation, safety, and basic riding skills.
A Basic Riders Course is perfect for new riders who have no or very limited experience on a motorcycle. Completion of this course meets requirements to obtain the M endorsement. There is a required online eCourse that must be completed before you come to class. There is not a written test for this class. During your class you will spend hours on a motorcycle. You must pass the class to get the Certificate of Completion for the DMV.
Harley-Davidson® Riding Academy New Rider Course
Harley-Davidson® Riding Academy New Rider Course is designed to get you comfortable on a bike, even if you've never ridden before. You'll learn the skills you need to ride with confidence. Learning to ride a Harley-Davidson motorcycle means different things to different people. For some, freedom. For others, necessity.
Courses for Experienced Riders
One-Day Course for License
For experienced riders needing their M endorsement, a one-day course is available. You must use your own motorcycle, or you can borrow a friends bike to take the class. Borrowed bikes must have a letter of use from the owner plus a copy of their insurance. This course is also great for riders who want to get prepared to ride with a passenger. That is the only way we have of getting the required eCourse to them and send reminders for the class.

MSF BRC2u Intermediate
This course is also a great course for a ticket violation. This course is also an excellent course for graduates from a beginner's course who have since purchased their own motorcycle and want to gain additional safety skills on their bike. If you are going to ride with a passenger on your bike, we highly encourage you to take this course and bring your passenger. This allows us to work with both you and your passenger on how the two of you can affect the stability of the motorcycle. There is no additional charge for your passenger. Participants receive a numbered MSF completion card which can also help with a discount for insurance. This course consists of range exercises to enhance your current riding skill.
Advanced Rider Course (ARC)
The MSF ARC is for licensed riders. This one-day course is for all riders who are current licensed and active riders who want to greatly enhance their riding skills. This course can be used for a court referral to remove a motorcycle violation.
Specialized Riding Courses
Intro to Adventure Riding
This MSF one-day course is a 6-hour Off-Road course designed to take a licensed rider on your personal Adventure Bike into the world of offroad exploring. Participants must wear full riding gear for this course. You will be learning bike balance while standing up, tight turns, and off-road stopping techniques, just to name a few. This can be a more strenuous course then even dirt bike training due to the additional weight of Adventure Bikes, so we highly encourage participants to bring fluid and good snacks. Course fees also include the Park entrance fee where participants completing the Intro to ADV Riding can take their newly acquired skills out on the trails for practice on the same day.
Street Masters Street Rider Weekend
This Course is designed for all levels of licensed riders to enhance the skills you already have. There are (5) total exercise areas designed to handle up to 12 students each exercise, plus a small Circuit course where you can actually practice repetitively what you have learned. In this course you will work on the following:
- Bike Balance - understanding the dynamics of rider to your specific bike for ultimate control at all speeds.
- Body Positioning - Learn how your body positioning for Street Riding is essential to overall motorcycle control as speed and during adversities.
- Emergency Stopping - In this course you will develop a deep understanding of progressive braking starting at speeds of 15 MPH and on up to 45 MPH.
- Trail Braking - Learn the power of Trail Braking through all curves to stay in complete control of your bike for any curve.

Our student population drives in from as far as Beaumont, Lake Jackson, Richmond, Rosenberg, Pearland, Alvin, Galveston, League City, Clear Lake, Kemah, Sugar Land, Katy, Hempstead, Waller, Navasota, College Station/Bryan, Montgomery, Huntsville, and Livingston. We also have students travel from as far as Longview, Tyler, Austin, San Antonio and even Corpus Christi for our one-day license waver course. Every one of these students have driven past other training facilities just to come out to our location in Tomball for their classes.
We know that as a beginning student who has never ridden a motorcycle or at best have very minimal experience, the thought of riding a motorcycle for the first time is a mix of excitement and concern. All of our coaches have spent multiple days in classrooms and on the range learning how to coach people into becoming safe motorcycle operators. And over their years of coaching careers have continued their personal growth by taking additional training to coach several different levels of motorcycle training.
Check out our Coaches page to get an idea of the quality of coaches who work for us.
Training Bikes
Our fleet consists of KTM 200 Dukes, a Kawasaki K125 Pro, and 2 NAVI's for students wanting to ride Scooters only. These bikes are lightweight and ergonomically comfortable for riders from 5'1' to well over 6 feet. Because all of our bikes have fuel injection, electronic throttle, and ABS BYBRE brakes (made by Brembo), we believe learning to handle our motorcycles for new riders is much easier. NOTE: Our training bikes will be too tall for students below 5'2".
