Women of Tomorrow Scholarship: Requirements and Opportunities
The Women of Tomorrow mentoring and scholarship program is designed to inspire, motivate, and empower young women to live up to their full potential through mentoring by highly accomplished professional women. The program provides members with a variety of activities to motivate them, including guest speakers, field trips, college visits, community service projects, workshops, and seminars. Monthly meetings focus on helping these students set goals and giving them strategies to be successful and eventually to balance a career, family, and home. Each year, the program offers need-based and merit scholarships to outstanding and qualified students pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees as part of its Inspire Initiatives program. Through the generosity of donors, the program advances efforts to ensure equity in educational opportunity that prepares students for success in school, work, and life.
General Requirements
To join the Women of Tomorrow program, students must be freshmen or sophomores. Members will continue in the program for three consecutive years. For scholarship consideration, seniors must have been active in the program for three years, expect to graduate from a participating high school, and have no unexcused absences from the Women of Tomorrow mentoring sessions.
The scholarships range in award amount, academic interests, and age. Whether you are a graduating high school senior or early in your professional career, the program provides financial opportunities and recognition to assist with collegiate and post-educational endeavors. As remembered by the American Bar Association, "It is undeniable that the late Justice Ginsburg transformed the legal profession, the Supreme Court, and the fabric of American society through her tireless advocacy for gender equity. Ruth Bader Ginsberg stated, "As women achieve power, the barriers will fall. As society sees what women can do, as women see what women can do, there will be more women out there doing things, and we’ll all be better off for it… As we connect and collaborate, give and take, we are evolving, emerging stronger and more capable."
